Half term

Humbertbear, Easter this year is April 16th, so really quite late.

It must be the north south divide, except, what about Hampshire

GC in County Durham, half term commences 20th February.

Half term in Wales where some of my DGC are begins on the 20th - I thought that they were always out of step with all of England.

My problem has been solved. I have just discovered that Blenheim Palace, our nearest stately home, have opened a big exhibition of 300 years of fashion, called 'A Passion for Fashion.

DGD has always loved dressing up and adores anything to do with clothes. We have been to the Museum of Fashion in Bath, which she loved. I have just spoken to her and she was so excited when I told her about Blenheim, we are keeping the museums at Reading for another visit and we will have a day of fashion and grandeur.

All my GC have half term next week. Wherever I have lived, half term was always the week of Valentine's Day, though in this area, NE Cheshire, it's the following week this year.

Half term in Barnet is 13th. It seems rather early this year, must be to do with Easter being early. Any other grans find they are now going away in school holidays rather than avoiding the crowds and going in term time? When I left teaching my husband said 'thank goodness we can go away when it is quieter'. We now take our major holiday in August!

Its a real problem when children go away for half term. They miss the half term activities in their own area as they are elsewhere, and if the area they are going to has a different half term they also miss what is on in their temporary location.

That is the problem we have.

Half-Term starts on the 13th for Herts schools, as well.
Have got various DGC for all but one day, that week.

Kent's is the week begining 13th. I've never noticed a regional difference before.

My GS is in Cheshire their half term is that week too but he is 12/13 and will probably spend his time with us on various electronic devices!!! I might juts get him to go Bowling.

Same here, VQ. It is just down the road from us and GS always enjoys going there, but apart from the Bank Holiday weekend joust, the events don't coincide. Derbyshire you see.

Our half term starts on 20th also we are lucky that The Liverpool Museum has ongoing attractions which my younger 2 always enjoy I am lucky now as they are older 13 & 15 and can left to their own devices sometimes and choice what they want to do or where to go

We're in Yorkshire too and were disappointed to find the Bolsover Castle events are the week before the Bradford half term.

Our half term here in South Yorkshire starts Monday 20th but half a mile down the road in Derbyshire they start next week, the thirteenth. We have GS for two days and, unusually, we have not planned anything, but he usually has plenty of ideas, most of which involve a lot of running around!

I suspected that, but they do not seem to be running many extra activities. As it is we are going to Stratford-upon-Avon at DGD's request and also to Reading which has 2 crackingly good museums; the town museum with its marvellous embroidered replica of the Bayeux tapestry and the Museum of Rural Life, which has recently been given a very expensive make-over. The rest of her visit will be spent swimming, walking, cooking and sewing.

Hampshire half term starts on Monday 20th - not too far from you!
