this is what my stepdaughter sent me this morning, I'm so happy
'happy happy mothering Sunday to my fantastic mothering second mum. Love you so much and can never repay you for accepting me and loving me like your family. I waited 40 years for a family and feel blessed yoy and your children are in my life. I didn't want to upset anyone posting online which is why I'm sending this message. Got you a little present as I don't want to outshine or upset your darling children but would like to make a bigger gesture as you are my world. Love and sunshine xxxx'

What a beautiful message. My stepdaughter always messsges me privately on Mother's Day so as not to upset her real mum.

That’s lovely what sweet words. We bought our gd up along with our d(she’s not her mum). Always buys me a card and pressie on mother’s day. Tells me how much she loves me, grandad and auntie how much she loves us.

How lovely! I have been co-caring for my stepson since he was 13, he’s not 27. Not even a text message to wish me a nice day but a gushing post on FB to his mostly absent mother!! Grrrrr!

That has made me well up. When you read of so much angst and difficulty in families, it's wonderful to see that there is a great, loving relationship that has worked so well between you and this happy, good hearted woman. You must both be lovely people. x

How lovely to receive such a heartfelt message.

Bless her. What a darling. And you must be a great mother for her to have written that.

Reading that has made my day. All the evil in the world is balanced by the good.

May I just say I too am one of the lucky ones with a bonus son who is quite definitely my son, and now he has found himself a lovely girl who is the perfect DIL!

They seem to be thin on the ground these days, so she really does deserve MIL blowing her (DIL's) trumpet.

How lovely. How I wish all stepdaughters could be as kind. (sigh)

I have a stepson who is just 8 years younger than me and my dh is 15 years older than me! I adore my stepson and I know he loves me, we have a wonderful relationship, a great friendship and mutual affection. He lives in Australia though and when i jokingly remind him its UK mothers day, he always relies "Ah yes, but I am not in the UK"! When it is Australian mothers day and I remind him, he replies "Ah yes, but you are not in Australia"!!! One of these mothers days he will do something spectacular and that will really wory me lol!

I agree with the other posts. A message straight from the heart and, in these days of fractured families and relationships, doesn't it do the heart good to hear such stories.

What a lovely message.
Well done all stepmothers who have loved their partner’s (and others sometimes) children as their own.

My DD married a man 15 years older than her and he has a daughter just 8 years younger than my DD. On Mother’s Day DD too had the most beautiful card from her step daughter, saying the same, how much she loves her and how happy she is that DD is in her life, how happy she makes her Dad etc It truly was so touching.

Sandye, you must be a truly lovely lady! Your post restores my faith in human nature. Your (step) daughter sounds like an amazing , considerate lady too.

petra Mon 12-Mar-18 21:21:54

My step daughter put in her card " I'm so glad that your my mum"
That might sound disrespectful to her birth mother, but if you knew the back story you would understand.
