Hi yes sunseeker, I did get you are praising...I think I was posting for all those who issued you dire warnings lol. BTW I was posting with 1st hand knowledge (as a complaints officer lol) And yes a few years ago there were lots of problems which have now been resolved with a whole new team dedicated but sometimes, things do sadly go wrong!

And also, the awful problems of the PPO were several years ago - that’s always the problem isn’t it that once you get a bad reputation, it’s really hard to get rid of it no matter how hard you try and how much you improve!

Bluegal It was precisely because I am aware the Passport Office get a lot of stick that I decided to post as I did. When I told friends I was renewing my passport I received dire warnings about having to wait several months, told stories of cancelled holidays etc. I just wanted to show that isn't necessarily the case.

Blue we are not criticising the PPO but praising it - it has transformed itself and we are all very pleased confused

In defence of HMPO. Can I just say that for every complaint- and some are justified- there are thousands that sail through without problems. If people were aware of the pressure to “get it right” there would be more tolerance. HMPO employees work their socks off to try to get passports out in time. Sometimes they fail but in grand scale of things the majority of people are happy.

Bellanonna I was like a limp J cloth.
However I have now asked GNHQ to delete it as I realised that I had given a lot of identifiable information, so it will just have to remain our secret! wink

Isn't it nice to hear about a good service from some organisation? Thanks for the cheering post, sunseeker.

Yes the PPO really turned itself around after that disatorous time a few years ago. I’ve sometimes wondered how and who did this and if they could sort out a few more Government departments.

Phew! I’m exhausted after reading that!

Some may remember I started a thread about passport photos recently. I just want to praise those working in the passport office.

I sent off my application to renew my passport (using the Post Office check and send) on 14th June, 23rd June I received a text telling me it had been received, 28th June another text to say the new passport would be delivered in a few days. Today (29th June) new passport received. smile

Bearing in mind it is summer and how busy the passport office must be I for one am impressed! (Still hate the photo!)
