Hello
We are celebrating our 60th wedding anniversary in the summer with a hog roast for friends and rellies in the garden..
Problem we need your help with is the speech our daughters say we have to make when we cut the cake and toast with the bubbly...
That hadn't occurred to us but of course they are right...
We have come a long way in our lifetime... But don't just want a list of dates... We want it fun and lighthearted.. But not jokey... We couldn't do that...
Our take on our lives....
Any ideas??? Please....

Your post has made me think. We also plan a summer party in the garden for our 50 th, but hadn’t thought we needed to say anything other than hello, lovely to see you.
Perhaps google anniversary speeches. I might have to now. Oh dear.
Fun and lighthearted is the way to go and many congrats on making it through to 60 years.

Include thanks to people for coming. My DS did that for his wedding speech, but made jokes about the distances they'd come, about some of them 'slumming'. Maybe if some of the guests were bridesmaids/groomsmen etc similar lighthearted remarks might be made about the fact that they've remained friends for so long.

You only need to make a speech?? If you want to!

Surely your dd and /siblings could speech about your lives and parenting or funny moments? If she wants a speech get her to do it!

We don’t plan any speeches for our golden wedding day ‘do’.
Will just circulate and chat with guests.
Why make the occasion so formal when you don’t have to?
Nobody enjoys making speeches ( or hearing them.)
Have a nice day, whatever you do okimherenow?

Just say, "thank you for the yummy cake", and tuck in. You could also say "Cheers" as you lift your lovely glass of bubbly.

Enjoy.

At our silver wedding DS1 who was only about 21 made a very good speech. We had a BBQ in the garden with about 70 guests. Get someone in the family to do the speech and just enjoy yourselves.

Congratulations......????❤️?

I think it’s more appropriate for one of your daughters or other relative or close friend to speak, and you only need to give brief response. For our 25th a friend said a few nice things.

I have written speeches for special occasions in verse, some as commissions for people I had never met! Just needed a few facts, anecdotes etc, and away it went.

okimherenow feel free to pm me if you want to, would be glad to try to help.
