I have just been to the surgery to book a doctor's appointment. We have 5 partners and, at the moment, 2 locums.
I was told that the next available appointment, unless it is a 'dire emergency', is 3rd June. That is 5 weeks today.
Can anybody beat this?

NotSpaghetti Re physio, I have been told that I must wait 28 weeks and then the hospital will send me a letter inviting me to make an appointment (probably in a further 28 weeks!)

I think my doctors is one of the worst I’ve heard of.
Feeling really unwell after coming off a rheumatoid drug, I rang the surgery, bang on 8.00, to be told I was 27th in the que, but I waited, 40 minutes later I got through, but of course no appointments left.
So tried the next day, same thing happened, but this time I was offered a walk in clinic at 2.30.as I was desperate, I left work early, got there at 2.30 on the dot. Only to find about 25 people in front of me, oh well I thought, I’m In for a long wait.....but no, after 5 minutes of giving out walk in appointments, the rest of us where told, that’s it all the appointments have gone. I was stunned, what a useless system. What a waste Of my time.
So next day I got there at 7.30, I was 2nd in the que. And bingo I was seen.
I can’t work out how to get a normal appointment.
I feel like I live in a third world country, it’s shocking.

I rang my dentist three weeks ago as a bit of a filling had chipped off - first available appointment is 20th May!

I handed a form in to our surgery to be signed by a doctor. I finally got it back yesterday, after five weeks. I could have made an appointment, and taken it in. I wouldn't waste a doctor's time, but it would have been quicker.

What a sad stae of affairs the GP service has become. I can understand why GP's retire early or only work part time the workload must be so stressful. But having said that i can also understand everyone's frustration at how the system works. No wonder people resort to going to the A&E department for treatment which then puts a strain on the hospitals and all related services, including trying to park once you get there!!! It is a problem which just goes round and round in circles and if you are lucky you may be able to jump on occasionally and get treated somewhere!!!!
