Artificial Grass anyone?

Yesterday a discussion on the Jeremy Vine show was "Are you for or against artificial grass lawns" So are you?

People 'for' said they find it looks good all year, doesn't need any attention, they save lots of time not having to go out to mow it! Can sit in it and enjoy!

Personally - not for me! My grass is unsightly and needs mowing every week in the summer but....today I had bees, ladybirds on the dandelions and birds pecking at the bugs including a Robin. Would you get that on artificial grass? I don't think so.

I know people want 'perfection' in their lives Artificial plants are now taking over now but what about our wildlife?

I despair about the amount of trees disappearing from gardens (although realise some of them have to be done if they grow out of control and affect foundations etc)

One guy on the show said he was a supplier and that he didn't actually like artificial grass.

Recently on a holiday abroad - the hotel had artificial grass in the grounds. I hated it! It is just a carpet outdoors as far as I can see.

We have had artificial grass installed, my husband did it last year. I was rather worried about it but we have as much wildlife as ever in our garden, all sorts of birds, hedgehogs and squirrels . We also have 2 dogs and we certainly don’t have any “smell “issues either . We always pick up after our dogs and if there’s a mess use a watering can of warm water.
I have health issues, and having artificial grass has eased some concerns I had about future proofing our garden .
