Sooo happy to see you back again! smile

Good grief M0nica that truly is shocking, your poor daughter! I do often think that Covid causes far more deaths than those with Covid - 'collateral damage' as you say. Thank the Lord your daughter was not counted among them. I hope she continues on the road to recovery flowers

BlueSky

Wonder where FlyingHandbag is gone? ?
Bet nobody would say "Where's BlueSky"?hmm

FlyingHandbag left because of the new GN terms & conditions, then decided they weren't so bad and came back with a new name.
Sorry, I've forgotten her new name.

That is shocking MOnica, and so preventable. I do worry that with telephone consultations being the norm now since Covid, and likely to continue, that serious symptoms will be missed. I think GPs have to be very skilled in triaging patients to ensure that this doesn’t happen.

It never occurred to me when I dropped out that people would notice so much, otherwise I would have let you know that I was bowing out temporally, and possibly permanently.

We all avoided COVID but DD came close to being collateral damage. Three pieces of advice for GPs. 1) If someone is losing blood always order a blood test 2) When you do not order the blood test for 2 months and the result then shows the patient's blood is virtually iron-free, do not say to the patient that they could have a fatal heart attack at any moment, it very nearly caused it. 3) Do not tell someone who lives alone to take themselves to A&E immediately if they have said heart attack, faint/blackout, or feel very dizzy. They are unlikely to be able to do so.

Anaemia is a common problem and easily treated, but as we now know, it can be fatal if not treated. DD is well on the way to recovery, but she is looking for a new GP.
