At the risk of being laughed at - tonight's tv is really good Saturday night, easy watching, rubbish.

I have surprised myself by enjoying the Little Mix 'talent' show and I love The Wall although I cant stop mimicking Danny Dyer's pronunciation of 'the wall'.

Please tell me I'm not the only one just slumping in front of the rubbish tv!

The Strictly highlights are making me very happy!

Saturday pm TV is dire, watching recorded repeats of Doc Martin, then Gardeners World. One wishes sometimes for a TV licence reduction!

Watching Gardeners world on catch up...then.....hmmm..turn it off...
I miss Casualty also....????

We also watch Netflix via our daughter's "family" subscription, she doesn't live with us. She has set it up so that when we click on it, it comes up with Who's watching? and a clever avatar (image) for each household on the subscription. Always makes me smile.

Apart from Casualty Saturday nights have been dire for years.
I have no interest in Strictly or all the other interminable talent shows which are churned out.

We saw Jane McDonald (is it just me or has she toned down a bit in this series?)

Does anyone know when Casualty is back?

I don't know what it was called as I glanced at it whilst cooking but there was a musical quiz programme on BBC and two lovely women (whoops, nearly said ladies!) got through to the final because their knowledge was excellent and had £10,000 in the kitty. Then they had to answer loads of quickfire questions, watching their money go down if they didn't know the answer or were too slow.

When their total reached zero I was so incensed I was shouting at the television about the overpaid BBC staff, it's my licence fee money and I wanted them to win etc so I turned it off in disgust.

Rant over.

We enjoyed the music quiz. Didn't think much of BGT and avoided The Wole because hubby can't stand Danny Dyer... I recorded Jayne McDonald.

Saturday tv is always dire. I Usually watch the Skandinavien noir Series on bbc4 which finished tonight. Mystery road, Aussie this time but subtitles still required.
Will look at the octopus Netflix programme ac we are also on our daughters Netflix account. Otherwise it’s a new hobby I need to find.

Callistemon Sat 03-Oct-20 23:13:52

We were going to watch Mystery Road but realised it was 5 of 6.
but subtitles still required.
Is that because of the BBC usual dire muffled sound or the accent, silverlining?

Calendargirl. The old Miss Marple is exactly what I have been watching. We have a (several years old) Humax recorder attached to our bedroom tv, and I record films, series etc. to watch when there is nothing much on - a lot of the time. Tonight DH was watching something about rugby, followed by something about football, and I settled down with Miss M. I think that Joan Hickson was by far the best Miss Marple, and apparently Agatha Christie thought so too. It is hard to believe that she used to play “cockney landlady with fag” type of parts when she was younger. She reminds me of an elderly lady who lived near us when I was a child, dressed exactly the same, she rode a huge tricycle.

Callistemon I watched all of Mystery Road, but wished I hadn't. The soundtrack was awful, except for the inevitable car chase etc, when the sound was ramped up.
The chap who was playing the Aboriginal detective, mumbled through his beard/stubble; and he didn't move his lips when speaking.
But, he got his man in the end.

Agree auntie flo , hence the need for subtitles even though it was in English.

Calendargirl Sun 04-Oct-20 11:15:02

I watched the first Mystery Road, but wasn’t struck, so didn’t bother with the rest.

Callistemon Sun 04-Oct-20 11:19:53

Thanks Auntieflo
I won't bother.
