Good morning all. Polmont is under a beautiful clear blue sky this morning and it looks like it will be a good day.
Today I will visit mum then home. My friend who I normally see for coffee is away this week. I might have a WhatsApp chat with friends this afternoon. After two busy days with a toddler, I enjoy quiet time just for me. A bit of garden work beckons later. Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Inland Suffolk is sunny too so washing and ironing I think. It is getting cooler at night and the summer quilt isn’t quite up to it anymore. I have a new warmer one on order which I must fetch today.
I really want to go to Shetland Gelisa and having lived in Newcastle, we are both very fond of Northumberland Greyduster. Your holiday tales make me want to book something!
Is Bellasnana the lady in Malta? Wish her all the best please NanKate

Hope the cycling goes well Mick and I am sure the day will be kind to everyone.

Hi everyone from the sunny south coast. looking forward to a lovely walk on the beach and a coffee watching the boats go in an out of the harbour.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s a little bit Misty this morning. I was up at 4.30 making tea and it was very clear, the sun was just rising and there was a tiny sliver of moon.
A friend has been staying and we have been walking in Wensleydale and Swaledale. The rivers are running fairly low so the falls at Richmond, West Burton and Aysgarth are not as spectacular as in the spring. We walked more than 20 miles over the three days.
Today it is a gentle coffee with another friend, and lots of washing and ironing!
Hope your DH has a better day Harri. Marydoll hope to hear from you soon.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a cloudy Essex by the sea, although the sea is sparkling so there must be some sun somewhere.
I appear to have Laryngitis as my almost non existent voice is very croaky. I can't remember the last time I was unwell.
I may go out for a walk later and pick up our prescriptions from the chemist.
Lovely to hear about everyone's holidays and visits. DD1 and family are staying in a caravan in Westwood Hoe and looking at the pictures she has sent me, they are all having a lovely time.
I hope Marydoll is ok and look forward to hearing from her soon.
Have a pleasant Wednesday xx

Good Morning everyone where it’s very warm and ☔️ raining! I’m looking forward to a (very) light raincoat, an umbrella and proper shoes - which haven’t seen the light of day since March!

Have to go to pick up my dossier of scan results, images, advice etc., from the Centre today prior to a trip to the Rheumatologist this pm. He’s going to give me an infusion to calm my ankle. He has promised me I shall then be pain free and will be back to walking and taking the exercise I’ve been deprived of for months! Hurrah!

I was shattered yesterday, had slept badly and had been told to rest. The first Birthday ? I have spent sitting down, but by a pool in the sunshine with some funny cards and messages and gorgeous flowers still made my day!

Next week a proper day out is planned, involving a boat, lovely food and sightseeing. I know it’s closer to home and not Corsica - so I’m thrilled there’ll be no forward planning or packing involved! Be lovely to do something after a whole raft of appointments - catching up with dentist, skin specialist, doctor, tests and treatments. It all takes time but at least we never have to wait long - this explains why, like buses, they’ve all come along at once.

There’s a nice feeling of ‘normal’ hovering over you lovely GM peeps today. So good to hear you’re all taking care (that scary virus still lurks), but life is returning. So pleased holidays and trips out or away and visits are organised! Just what everyone needs. Safe travel today, Gelisa* - bet your legs are just a bit shorter after walking in so much wonderful scenery! Nice to be able to do such a breathtaking trip on calm seas, Grey. So good to spend some time in your lovely holiday home with your loved ones, Ash. I always feel that even in a holiday home which (for me) is left in apple pie order, we’ll still always clean like idiots if guests are coming, even though it probably looks good before we even start!

Good Luck on MumPatrol today, GrandmaB - don’t go empty-handed and if that fails…..take Gin! ?. Everyone with a difficult day ahead or a problem or sadness - ??? for you. For all, I’m sending ????????????? whom we are constantly disturbing driving up and down this coast this week. Take care of them! It’s just been announced that whilst out picking up results, we will also be collecting pool supplies and some kitchen tiles! Who new? Am I excited?Yes/No/Notalot oh, go on then, I’ll make an effort.

Take care ALL of you, come back soon please,if you’re taking a break.
After all we’ve been through, we need to stick together. It works! xx
?‍♀️?????

Sun and cloud here in SW Herts, we are off to Wallingford to take DH's 96 year old aunt out to lunch, he has booked and outside table by the river, which sounds lovely if it is warm enough and dry. He has tickets for the cricket at Nottingham on Saturday with DS2, will be devastated if it is called off due to rain, booked them in January!

My trip to the hotel near Stratford on Avon went well, Shakespeare was supposed to have written 'As you like it' in the library. I really hope it all comes off, I am so fed up with Teams and Zoom.

Happy Birthday for yesterday GMFrench your lifestyle sounds wonderful. Ash what a lovely holiday home, you are lucky it is so close. Thinking of you and DH Harri, you are having such a tough time. Also Marydoll you are missed. Anyone heard from Urmstongran recently?

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 04-Aug-21 10:04:25

Good Morning all from sunny Harrogate (not for long)
Beechnut I am curious are you painting pictures or the house?
The last time I was in Northumberland Greyduster was the week before Roal? Mote? terrorised the area!! Lovely part of te country, though.
Today I have to post back knee supports which I had hoped would solve a problem. The company apologised they don't do non standard knees!! Always though mine were pretty standard, just small! Have to have another think how to improve my knees!!
I am hoping to have a morning at Knaresborough Market where I haven't been since before the pandemic (though it's only about 4 miles)
Had a rare old time getting my printer working again, ended up phoning Canon and Hey Presto! It was up and running. I had already planned which one to replace it with! Suppose I wasted time with it, but saved money!
Hope all those feeling rough just now have a smoother day flowers

Good morning everyone. Stunning morning here. Lovely to hear of everyone's plans. Today I have put aside my mobile phone and do not intend checking it til bedtime. Have fallen into habit of googling random stuff/checking the news etc. If anyone wants me there is the landline. I am wasting so much time on it. Usual cleaning chores ahead. Scotland dropping a lot of its restrictions next week though masks still apply. I hardly go out these days so will be interesting to see how things evolve. Have a good a day as possible.

Grandmajean Wed 04-Aug-21 10:34:22

Good Morning from a warm & sunny Cambs.,

Belated Birthday Wishes Grandmafrench, wine cupcake.

Ashcombe, your holiday home looks lovely & tidy, (ours is more of a home-from-home, & has a somewhat "lived-in" look..!! hmm, on a rather remote part of the NW Norfolk coast.)

Harrigran flowers.

"Happy Wednesday, Blossoming, & all. x

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny Lancashire coast.
My sister has left after a lovely visit and the washing machine is doing its stuff. I’m tired after outings every day, so will just potter around and tidy up. My teeth check up was fine, nothing to be done, although I turned up a day early on Monday. Much more of this and I’ll be worried…
News in that our local folk club is meeting again, so I am really looking forward to going along for a warble.
Thoughts to harrigran and all with troubles.

Happy belated Birthday Grandmafrench, sounded like a lovely day,??????

I’m waiting (probably in vain) for a call back from the GP. She did call this morning but I couldn’t hear her properly. She then redialled but my phone must be playing up because it cut off again before I could answer. I phoned the surgery and explained and asked for a call on my landline so I am now sitting six inches from the phone. This is all after waiting in an early morning telephone queue for twenty minutes to get a telephone appointment in the first place. I quite literally could weep.

I’ve enjoyed your Shetland stories Gelisajam, safe home.
Also your holiday tales Greyduster Seahouses and the surrounding area are one of my favourite spots, especially the beach walk.

Wishing everyone still reading a good day!

TopCat12 Wed 04-Aug-21 14:13:31

What a lovely day today, you all cheer me up and make me smile in the morning.

Mapleleaf Wed 04-Aug-21 14:51:04

Good afternoon everyone.

This morning was glorious - blue sky, warm sunshine but now it is all change in South Yorkshire with grey sky, rumbles of thunder and rain. I'd seen the forecast for this afternoon on my phone so decided to get cracking with the washing so I could get it outside to dry (which it has), followed by cutting the grass at the back and the front. So all got done before the heavy rain. Trouble is, if course, now it's raining and still quite warm, the grass will almost be as long as it was before I cut it when the rain stops! Oh well, the ground does need the rain I suppose.

So glad you are having a lovely time in Northumberland Greyduster and that you had an enjoyable trip around the Farne Islands - it really is special, isn't it? Lucky to see a few puffins, too, because as you say, most have left the coast now to live out at sea until breeding time again.

Now, can I ask what the vertical rectangle means that several of you have posted on your posts today? Does it signify a hug? I can't find it on the smileys so wonder is it two square brackets side by side like this ? []. I don't think it is because there's a tiny gap here but on yours there isn't. ?

Anyway, wishing you all a lovely afternoon.

Pittcity Wed 04-Aug-21 15:16:13

Mapleleaf you see that symbol when your device can't decipher the emoji in the post. Some devices are incompatible with the language of others....just like humans!!!

It's usually a flamingo!!

Mapleleaf Wed 04-Aug-21 16:23:07

Thank you Pittcity. So, now I'll be trying to work out what they should be ?.
