Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and looking wet outside and no doubt cold.
Today I will go to Bicester ,and get a little bit more xmas shopping out of the way , buying gift cards but not all in one go.
It will be interesting to see how busy the buses are as well .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
I had put this morning aside to put up our much loved twinkly, twiggy, tree .
Oh the disappointment when I opened the box.
No tree, just everything to hang on it.
We must have thrown it away last year, and forgotten.
So it will have to be the tiny red, net tree, bought when Ds2 was about 4. He is now 46. I had attached mini decorations, bought in India, and they still look good. Also a twirly thing that should just be hung with glass baubles. It has now been decorated with an assortment of small ornaments, topped by the ancient angel. There is a small manger scene, from Oxfam, again years old. You can probably tell that all our bits and bobs are precious and well loved
So with our string of fairy lights, along one wall, we are done.
I will catch up with all the posts later.
Have a good day one and all.

Good Morning Mick and all from sunny frosty Carlisle.
I've been working on my list of little jobs but they have not been little in terms of time taken over them. Plodding on....
I may abandon them for a spot of gardening after lunch. I have a cat problem...my newly dug border has become the local feline toilet facility and my crocus bulbs keep being scattered around. I've found curry powder is a great deterrent but you have to keep renewing it after rain. I'm wondering about electronic cat scarers as this particular border is to be used for soft fruit and a few veggies.
I'm still planning on visiting family for Christmas but the planned get togethers seem to be growing in size which is making me nervous.
What on earth does one have to do to be banned for life?! I liked reading EV's posts and never came across an offensive one.
The best of days to all.

joyce6135 Thu 02-Dec-21 11:21:31

Morning all, it’s bright and sunny but cold here. Unfortunately the sun is showing how badly my inside windows need cleaning, and I was planning on finishing a book I was half way through. Windows or book! Book it is. Have a peaceful day everyone.

luluaugust Thu 02-Dec-21 10:25:16

Good morning from cloudy W Kent. Another day at home, hoping not a test run for a lockdown, as DH has come down with the super cold. Full of good intentions of starting the Christmas cards, or might just sit and read. Take care everyone.

Urmstongran Thu 02-Dec-21 10:15:47

I’m late again. I seem to be making a habit of this! 36 posts already and if I read them all now I’ll never get sorted to go out to the Trafford Centre
Plus for some strange reason the cursor is playing staccato silly buggers and I can’t tap out this message properly it’s very frustrating.

Suffice then to say good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have sunshine! A crisp glorious day. To spend a couple of hours in the Trafford Centre but needs must. I’m going to a Christmas meal a week on Saturday with my book club friends and would like to buy something new to wear or at the very least accessorise something I already have. I shall leave you with today’s Matt cartoon and catch up properly later.

Enjoy Thursday all who can. x

Good morning everyone, better late than never, the suns blazing here on the east coast of Fife. I’ve been told there’s been a dusting of snow out there - not that I’ve seen it just yet. I’m so looking forward to getting my belated advent calendar from my dd it’s so exciting I’ll have 2 windows to open. It’s coming around at 11 today just when I get my mid morning coffee. Should be a fun half hour. My zoom attendance yesterday brought me out of my doldrums it was so amusing to see and chat to old friends again.

Thinking of those who are without, hugs all around, the road ahead is becoming clearer take care and enjoy the day flowers

Morning all

Late to the thread again!!
I have been awake since 6.30am faffing around.
Managed to get one Christmas tree up and decorated in the dining room, off to buy a real tree for the sitting room when I have had my coffee and read this thread ?. Gradually putting out decorations around the house, not sure if all of my porcelain ornaments will get put out this year as The Imp is very interested in things which are not toys grin

Keep safe and well folks ???

Good Morning all from bright but chilly Harrogate
I do hope you can see your son over Christmas GrandMattie it's so important for you both.
Scentia pleased your DH has a diagnosis - now he can get treatment and start living again! Love your naughty elf!
Last night went to see "Anything goes" It was very good, but found difficulty because it had been live streamed from the stage show, but made it a bit odd. Singing and dancing great!
DD1 arrived this am to go for walkies with DH and dog.
Sar your blankets will brighten any day (and warm them, when necessary)
Should be able to talk to my sisters this evening to catch up on family news.
Have as good a day as you can everyone.

aggie Thu 02-Dec-21 09:57:26

Good morning everyone, bright and sunny here
GrannySomerset that’s a shame your OH not liking the care home , but grit your teeth and calmly explain how much it is helping both of you , or just ignore the grumbling ,

Kalu Thu 02-Dec-21 09:54:28

Good morning all from a chilly but sunny morning in Glasgow.

I don’t think it would be out of order for your DS to ask for special treatment under the circumstances GrandM ?
Bon appétit and enjoy your visit from Philip’s girlfriend.

Terrific photo Scentia?. It brought a smile to the start of my day.
Hope your DS manages to get through the snow for a visit Harri?.
What a pretty blanket Sar, I like your choice of colours.
Good luck with the paperwork GrannySomerset. As you say, your DH will have to get on with it, you are not superhuman.

Window washing inside, (not all of them) sheesh and a change of bed linen due. Not all done in one go you understand! Phew.

Best wishes to you and your family EV with more best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Stilllearning Thu 02-Dec-21 09:45:10

Morning from snowy S Lanarkshire but it’s only a little covering so hopefully it will clear soon.

I’ve been up and organised since early as the gas man was coming to service the boiler and I’m pleased to say he is here and getting on with the job, so I’ll be able to meet a friend for lunch after all.
Hopefully the full effect of the ear drops I am using just now will have worn off by then, the gas man and I are shouting merrily at each other just now! Fortunately he’s a nice man and isn’t showing any irritation.

Lovely cheerful looking blanket Sar, perfect for these dull days.

I do hope your son gets home for Christmas grandMattie, he as well as you must need to be together.

Very glad your husband has a diagnosis and getting prompt attention Scentia:

Enjoy your journey as well as your visit brooke I am missing those lovely long train journeys just now.

I’ll get on with hoovering the house shortly since everything has had to be lugged out of the boiler cupboard anyway and wish everyone the best of days ???

LauraNorderr Thu 02-Dec-21 09:34:00

Good morning Mick, good morning all.
Bright and sunny here in Anglesey, blue sky and fluffy white clouds, not a breath of wind but jolly cold.
I had no idea what day it was so thank you Mick for always keeping me up to speed.
Lovely to hear news of EV, will eat my crumpets with a happy feeling today.
A short walk and some housework today. I’ll finish wrapping Christmas presents which have all arrived safely following my cosy, warm and safe online shop. I know some prefer the hustle and bustle of the high street but I am not one of them.
Glad to see the fundraiser for soop is going so well.
Have a good day all ?

monk08 Thu 02-Dec-21 09:33:23

Good morning all from the Black country, light dusting of snow.
Late up this morning so will catch up later after my tea and crumpets. Glad to hear you spoke to EV Urms so sad she has been banned the mind boggles how they come to these decisions.
Hope all goes well with boiler repairs Jaxjacky
Enjoy your Thursday whatever your plans and may you all find some ?.

Blossoming Thu 02-Dec-21 09:30:06

Good morning Mick and all from bright and frosty Lancashire. I don’t think I will be going anywhere today as some Christmas presents I ordered are due to be delivered. Also the road and pavement are icy. I hope anyone venturing out today is careful, we don’t need any more slips and falls.

I’m glad your husband has had a diagnosis and more tests to follow Scentia. Hope your son can find a way round his difficulties Grandmattie. Safe journey to all travelling and enjoy your trips.

hollysteers Thu 02-Dec-21 09:12:07

P.S. Decided to take a bath last night instead of jumping in and out of the shower and not pleased to find I had to turn around on to my knees to get out of the damned thing…

hollysteers Thu 02-Dec-21 09:08:27

Good morning from High Street Kensington. Lovely day here yesterday visiting ( Fortnums, Hatchards I need more books like a hole in the head) and the Royal Academy. One of the biggest treats for me was taking the bus and sitting at the front on the upper deck! Love it.
Daughter arrives later and the fun continues. Back to the frozen north on Saturday.
Hope all have a good day and thoughts to anyone with troubles.
Will read through this evening.

Litterpicker Thu 02-Dec-21 08:54:13

Good morning from a blue-skyed West Sussex coast. I am up earlier than usual so decided to post, rather than just read.
Mick, we waved to you from the A43 as we passed on our journey to and from Scotland last week and this.

We are going to my daughters MiL’s funeral today. She had a number of health problems pre-Covid but had declined considerably during lockdowns with too little support, we feel, from GP. It will be a sad day for her husband and all the family.

Later I plan to start writing Christmas cards - we still like to keep in touch with friends the old-fashioned way. News from friends in all the places we’ve lived is a highlight of my winter.

Thoughts with all with health problems and worries

harrigran Thu 02-Dec-21 08:50:49

Good morning from a snowy NE.
It was very windy during the night and I was surprised to see the snow when I got up at 7am.
Burglar alarm maintenance are coming this morning and DS usually comes to keep me company on a Thursday. The village, where DS lives, always seems to get a lot of snow so he may not make it today.
Stay warm and safe.

Gingster Thu 02-Dec-21 08:46:29

Good morning all and it’s feeling chilly again.
You were right yesterday GG it was windy here in Essex. It looked so still through my window but I realised how windy it was when I walked little pooch.

Our chiming rehearsal couldn’t have gone worse yesterday. Re-starts, couldn’t hear each other’s chimes , so didn’t know when to come in etc, etc. ??. it’s all good fun ?

Hope your son can sort something out with his surgeon GM. ?

Sar your blankets are lovely, so bright and cheerful. Do you crochet?

Scentia I’m glad you managed to get your dh to the docs. It needs to be sorted. ?

brooke I hope your journey goes well. Nice to have the company if your DH.?

cornergran - a good try out for your new knee. I’m sure it will be great. ??‍♀️.

Keep warm and safe. ?

GrannySomerset Thu 02-Dec-21 08:41:12

Am waiting for someone to collect DH’s hospital bed and other bits and pieces - any time after 8.00 am, so am earlier than usual. Bet he doesn’t come till tea time!

Very cold this morning but am determined to deal with the various files cluttering up the kitchen so that I can put them away. Still getting my head round the finances and funding DH’s nursing home to which he has taken a strong dislike but which he will have to come to terms with. Nobody said it would be easy and it isn’t.

Anniebach Thu 02-Dec-21 08:39:27

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Ashcombe Thu 02-Dec-21 08:23:07

Good morning, all, from an unusually chilly but dry Torbay.

I do hope your DS can travel over as planned, grandMattie - such visits are so precious, even with the quarantine restrictions. Seeing your visitors tonight will be uplifting, I’m sure.

Scentia: I was diagnosed with stable angina (I blame the horses and donkey DH used to have!) by a cardiologist just before the pandemic; I hope your DH's long term treatment can be sorted out soon.

Those blankets look cosy and colourful Sar53. I often use a blanket round my legs in the evening. (Well, the Queen has been using one when travelling for years….!)

That sounds like a long journey, brook2704, but the best way to travel, in my view. Enjoy your trip!

What a delicious feast you prepared for your friends, Grandmabatty!

Stay safe and well, everyone, whatever happens. ?????

Grandmabatty Thu 02-Dec-21 08:16:09

Good morning all from Polmont. It's a chilly start at -1° and clear skies just turning blue. I had a post already done and my phone froze and wouldn't send it so hopefully I can remember the gist of it.
Brooke enjoy your visit to Cambridge and family. Grandmattie I hope something can be sorted out for your son. Scentia a diagnosis at least means suitable treatment. I hope your dh can reconcile with that.
Yesterday I had a lovely couple of hours with friends who came for afternoon tea. My friend recently lost his partner and is feeling very low. It was his birthday yesterday so I had a little card and gift and the other pal bought a cake. I had also visited M&S and bought mini Colin caterpillar cakes, macarons and mini mince pies. I made dainty sandwiches, sausage rolls and scones. So we had plenty of food! It was nice to see them. It was the first time that my other pal had seen my house and she thought it was lovely. I do too.
Today I'm visiting my dd and the boys for a coffee at her invitation. Much as I used to be knackered looking after the boy wonder two days a week, I really miss him about the house, creating chaos. ? Anyway that's my plan for this morning. I'm going to make the Christmas soup and freeze it this afternoon so that's one less task. Whatever you are up to, have a good day all.

Pittcity Thu 02-Dec-21 08:02:13

Good morning from a bright but very cold Colchester.
DH has just informed me that we are visiting his sister today. They are a family who make infrequent but spur of the moment arrangements. I am therefore at the ironing board early as I need something to wear and was planning to tackle the post holiday ironing today. There's always tomorrow!
Lots of love ?x

brook2704 Thu 02-Dec-21 07:56:46

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve had a light covering of snow overnight and it’s cold and frosty
Some very busy grans on here today - enjoy!
Let’s hope something can be sorted for your DS grandMattie fingers and toes crossed
I’m sat writing this on the train just now waiting for it to leave for London and then onto Cambridge to visit DD1. DH is with me too for this trip so that’s nice company. Ooh we’re just leaving and the buffet car is open so I’ll be in search of a coffee soon ?
Hope today is kind to everyone and take care all ?
