Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry with some high cloud at the moment , today in brackley .
With the heatwave , I need a few things with a small local shop sooner than do my usual Saturday routine .
The sooner this weather breaks the better .

After an unexpectedly lovely day yesterday - friend for coffee and catch up, lunch out with lovely neighbours and video chat with DGD1 in the US - nothing at all planned for today once I have made an early raid on Tesco.

So sorry the Oops family had such a rotten end to their holiday and hope they make it home safely today. Otherwise lots of nice reports of good family days out. We will look back nostalgically when normal rainy service is resumed.

Grandmabatty, yes she is prone to nosebleeds. She takes it all in her stride bless her as they are heavy. Her biggest concern last night was not getting blood on her new nightie! She has just woken up and is enjoying a cupcake for breakfast!

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 13-Aug-22 08:19:33

Ginster thanks I’m sure they will feel better after some sleep.

2 years ago MzOops broke down, got onto the hard shoulder of the road, climbed over the barrier and a lorry slammed into her car and write it off, thank goodness she was able to get out in time. At least the M1 still has a hard shoulder where they broke down yesterday.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where we have a gorgeous start to the day with highs of 36°C forecast later. Gardens in an hour then at 4pm Himself is going to watch Rangers in the bar with his Glaswegian buddies. Tonight we are all going on the marina for dinner. I’m looking forward to my favourite cocktail first, a porn star martini!

Enjoy Saturday all who can. Our little family are halfway through their holiday already.

Morning from a cloudy S Lanarkshire but signs of it thinning slightly.

A good chat yesterday with a friend in a very nice cafe in the country which was unexpectedly quiet, I think it was too hot for people to venture out which was great for us!

This afternoon I’m going to a performance of Aladdin by a wonderful local youth group called Shine. They are amazing, the last one I saw was A Midsummer’s Night Dream and I was thinking how the skills and confidence the youngsters were acquiring must transfer so well into the other areas of their lives.

A group of us are going out for a meal afterwards so all in all a nice day ahead?

Wishing the same for everyone else???

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. I slept much better last night. Looking forward to the weather breaking on Tuesday.

Grandmadinosaur we went to Normanby Hall last year to a country Fair. I might take GS there and Elsham Hall in the next few weeks. Well done to your DIL on her sponsored walk such a great cause close to her heart. ?

Oops sorry to hear about your DD and family breaking down. I bet they will be glad to get home safely today. You don’t see so many cars broken down on the hard shoulder any more.

Today it’s a chilled day with nothing really on so we’ll go with the flow. This evening we go to our friends for them to show off their new kitchen. We will have a takeaway while there.

Enjoy your Saturday of family and friend gatherings and lovely lunches out. Thoughts to those who are finding life a struggle. ??

Good morning from a grey, misty and cool Durham.
Gingster - I chuckled a little when I read your post because it sounds as if it was the half cooked chicken making all the noise!! Obviously I know you meant the oven?.
Not much planned today although DD2 said she would pop over with DGS while her DH watches The Toon’s away game on tv. When she leaves she can take her dogs and laundry with her. My trip to the garage yesterday to get the Aircon re-gassed wasn’t successful and it’s still not working - booked it in to be looked at, but these little niggles are starting to add up, as the spare parts aren’t cheap.
We are forecast three days of rain early next week, so I suppose we should make the best of what’s left of the sunshine, if it breaks through today.
Have a good weekend.

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s rather cool and foggy.

I had a lovely afternoon yesterday with old friends, the one who lives in Greece wasn’t happy with the weather, she hates the sun! smile

We’ve been invited to a neighbour’s this afternoon for a little farewell gathering for another couple who are moving away. Before then I’ll laze in the garden with a book. Quite enjoying being a lady of leisure.

Have a good day folks.

Gingster Sat 13-Aug-22 08:58:01

Georgesgran - yes I thought the same when I read it back ??.

Good morning all from W Kent. Interesting visit to big local shopping centre first thing yesterday, very quiet, we got some amazing bargains in Waitrose, I guess no one could face the heat.
In to town early to return library books, downside of restarting borrowing, suddenly finding the due date has arrived. We have a Pride get together in the town today so I guess it will be busy.
Best wishes to all.

Good morning all the Scottish Borders where it isn't too hot. sorry just nicely warm enough to wear summer clothes.
Sorry to hear about your family breaking down oops and glad they are rescued.
Thank goodness for mobile phones.
We once had a double puncture on the A90 near Forfar and despite the AA gold service, it took a very slow relay to get us home.

I'm granny sitting tonight so her carers can have a night out.
Keep cool everyone.

Barmeyoldbat Sat 13-Aug-22 09:09:32

So hot last night just couldn’t sleep, so at 2.15 when the cat wanted to go out I went with her. Took a foot rest, pillow and my dressing gown and slept in the deckchair in the garden, cat sat on my lap. Might try it tonight as well. It’s going to be another hot day so I am starting early to do my bits and pieces. Have a lovely day everyone

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
Well this morning started early for us. It was breakfast at 7am The plasterer arrived at 8 am - we’ve been trying to get him for two years, so now is a good time!! He’s taken the Venetian blind down so I can give it a good clean. Had. DGD here yesterday she had the choice of going to a friend to play, but she wanted her old nana! All she wanted to do was watch TV. It was like having a 16 year old instead of a 6 year old
What a dreadful time to have a breakdown Oops. That was very brave of your DIL doing a sponsored walk in that weather Grandmadinasaur
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning all,

Another hot day developing in South Yorkshire. It’s due to change on Monday, with some much needed rain, although as they’re going to be showers, certain areas will probably miss out, sadly - the ground is parched.

Another lazy day ahead, just a few jobs to do before it gets too hot.

Have a good day.

Blossoming Sat 13-Aug-22 09:42:09

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s another sunny morning in this corner of Lancashire, currently 23°C.

Yesterday I went to the hairdresser, then later on I did my cycling and Gaelic studies. It was too hot to do much else. I’m pleased I’ve managed to keep up with my exercise despite the heat. Nothing planned for today.

I was shocked by the news about Salman Rushdie last night, there are some very evil people in this world. He appears to be in a critical condition today.

Have the best day possible all ???

Good morning , more of the same weather !
After reading the thread about washing pillows I had a restless nigh so got up after tossing and turning ,
The electric blanket , mattress protector and pillow covers are all being washed , the electric blanket is doing it’s best to wreck the machine at the moment ! ( it is washable , all cables are removed)
So when I was up anyway I went into the cool of the patio ,did a bit of cutting back plants and watering , we have a tank of rainwater , but it is running low !
I might have a siesta later !
I hope we all have as good a day as possible xx

Marydoll Sat 13-Aug-22 09:51:26

Good morning all from a misty Glasgow. I'm late to the party today, because I had to go out for the papers, as I would not allow DH to drive after his whisky tasting adventure. My routine (I am a creature of habit) is all over the place!
I suspect he had more to drink than he has let on, he snored (very loudly) all night, so I had little sleep!
As I tried to cross the busy main road to the shop, someone called my name. It was someone I had been at school and university with 50+ years ago! So of course I was forced to chat.

Yesterday was an unexpectedly pleasant day. I went to do a small shop in Tesco and a stroll (on my own) around TKMAXX. (Where I picked up a £90 Ralph Lauren dress for £9!) Pants, eat your hear out!
I bumped into lots of people I know, including my son's former English teacher, who was also an ex colleague.
I hadn't seen her in over twenty years!
She paid me the loveliest of compliments, saying, I loved your children and working with you!. ? I was really touched.
It took me forever to get round Silverburn, I had to keep sitting down, so much so that DH was panicking. I ended up putting on live location, so that he would know I was OK. I came home on a high!

While DH was out, I got a call from DIL, saying Dollie had lost her old Ipod, did we have it? I eventually found it jammed under her car seat, so charged it up and took it with all the other items, she had abandoned up to DS1's. They were in the garden, and that is where I spent a pleasant evening, until DS2 messaged to say that DH was on the train. Note:DH didn't message me to say he was on the train! ?
Then I got a message from DH, saying the train had broken down. So there I was sitting outside the sation, in the dark, waiting for an uncommunicative DH!!!
To my horror, I found that driving in the dark, is no longer an option for me! I haven't driven in the dark, since I started sheilding and found it so difficult to see.

dragonfly, I hope you have a lovely time tonight. Susan, Dollie has constant nosebleeds and we have to carry a supply of cotton wool, whenever we go out. She now has some sort of cream to put inside her nose.

Ash, I thougt you might be interested in this programme about "Allo, Allo!"

Have a good day all , whatever your plans.

Good morning everyone ? from our corner of South Hants.
Had a lovely evening celebrating 50 years of being in business with DH’s work colleagues. They had invited employees past and present so it was great for DH to meet up with people he hadn’t met for ages. It certainly tired me out as I slept very well last night and we both woke up later than usual.

Not much planned for today - I do need to do a mini food shop at some point and pick up my glasses from opticians. Otherwise I’m taking it easy - I find the hot weather exhausting. Maybe it’s an age thing.

Have the best day possible everyone.
Hugs and ? for all

Marydoll following your excellent example , while I was picking up my new glasses last week , I nipped onto TKMAX And came out with a new handbag ! £200++ marked down to £70 , it would have been rude not to get it ?

A late good morning from Glasgow where the promised sunshine has yet to appear but it is still pleasant enough to have my kick start espresso al fresco. Not complaining.

DH is doing so much better since his overnight hospital stay. After various tests his speech therapist changed the size of his speech valve and that did the trick as she has access to different sizes which, had we ordered a few, it takes a month for them to be delivered. Phew!

Susan, GD2 had constant nose bleeds but being cauterised for the second time, we are keeping our fingers crossed it has worked this time.

Have a pleasant day all

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Final run through for gig next week went reasonably well yesterday although I’m still pondering whether to use a mike or not. I’m not trained for that!
After that I was glad to get home and relax but planned another day trip to make the most of the summer, arranged a service for the car, a manicure etc.
I’ll try my dress on for the gig today and have a run through here myself. I recorded the rehearsal so I can hear what’s wrong. Also hang out washing and other neglected domestic things.
I’m sure I could win an award for the most undomesticated woman in the country.

Have a nice day and thoughts to all with worries.
.

Well done with the bargains aggie and Marydoll. I love a good mooch around TKMaxx. Wondering if we bought the same striped Ralph Lauren shirt dress Mary?

Chrissielou Sat 13-Aug-22 10:56:44

A lovely 5 mile walk along the river with DH and dog at 6.30 this morning, so fresh and cool. Popped to local Waitrose to pick up some nice bits for weekend and back for breakfast in the garden.
It's starting to heat up again now so will try and get the jobs done, so many tomatoes to cook again, there will be lots of sauce and soup to give away and also freeze for the coming months

Marydoll Sat 13-Aug-22 10:59:24

Pink or Blue? I guess blue, the blue ones were your size. as opposed to the pink rounded lady size, Kalu. ?

It's good to know I have good taste!
