Plantar Fasciitis anyone?

I've had this for two whole months. It is agonising. I am told to lose weight (which doesn't happen in an instant) and a recent trip to London made it extremely painful to the point I was taking regular ibuprofen. I noticed that the only relief was when I got home and put on my FitFlops which I have had for years....but on the trip to London I happened to chat to a girl called Claire in John Lewis and she not only knew all about Plantar Fasciitis she recommended a shoe from Gabor called a rollingsoft shoe.
Now I have been through all the gel pads.....lifting the arches with plastic things? from the chiropodist, creams, and no end of purchases on varying types of shoes - Hotters/Padders/Scholl/Clarks Air/Brasher. But these Gabor shoes are absolutely fantastic.....They cushion your heels for a smooth gait.....they stablise for controlled movement and the curved soles roll you from step to step. If anyone remembers a shoe from about twenty years ago called Masai Barefoot Technology then these are similar. Although the Masai shoes were the ugliest shoe on the planet at the time I recall.....but oh, the comfort was second to none and the price was just as eye watering. These Gabor shoes are similar, except they are a nicer looking shoe and they come in half sizes. So........for someone who has tried everything due to P.F. go on.....give these a go. Or for anyone on their feet a lot. (No, I'm not on commission and I am not saying they will work for everyone, but they did for me)

I live in FitFlops, they work beautifully for me.
It's hard to envisage quite how painful Plantar fasciitis can be until you experience it but putting on FitFlops causes the pain to disappear like magic.

There has been a number of threats on this over the years,so I am repeating myself, I had this very badly and was cured very easily with acupuncture.
It has never come back but if it does I will be straight on the phone to book in.

Warbler, I have had this, also for two months. The other day it seemed to be slightly better, but has come back just as badly.
I find that after I have been walking for a bit, it does get easier.
My most comfortable shoes at the moment are a very cheap pair of sliders from Sainsburys , on line. £7.00. Hope they last a long time as I only wear them indoors.

I have also had this for the last couple of months. Thank you Warbler for the information about Gabor shoes. It is very important to wear shoes that support your foot. I went to see a lovely Physio who gave me treatment and some exercises to do, which are really helping. Wishing you well soon.

I have had PF in the past. I found shoes with a low heel easier to walk in than completely flat ones. I hadn't heard of Gabor shoes.

I spent a fortune of FitFlops and Hotter shoes, which did help. I had one session of physio which didn't seem to really help.

I did have a golf ball that I use to roll my foot over when I was watching TV in the evening. I seemed to help a lot.

I also had PF socks (from Amazon) that I used to wear 24 hours a day at some points.

My pain lasted about three months (sorry) but that was about three years ago and I haven't had it since. I do tend to always wear shoes with good arch support now, which may be why.

As another poster said, you don't realise how painful it is until you become a sufferer

I had it for a few months late last year and early this year. Nothing seemed to help, I even had a 5 visit course of acupuncture, which wasn`t cheap. It eventually went away, but came back after a month, but in just one foot this time, and it`s still with me.

Fitflops, Crocs and gel pads in heels of my shoes, all worked wonders fir me and I haven't suffered since I suffered about 5 years ago.

Fit flops for me all the time. They are the only shoes I wear now , even their slippers round the house. I had it for nearly a year and tried every treatment going until someone suggested fit flops. Admittedly they are expensive but I always buy when their sales are on.

I have just recovered from the pain of PF. It lasted about a year & was very painful. I found that nothing really helped but rolling my foot over a cold bottle gave some relief. A doctor friend said that it would go in time - she was right, but took months! Gel pads in my Rieker trainers did give some relief. Hang on in there - it will get better!
