Door curtains

We always had door curtains inside the doors when we lived in an old Victorian house.
Our house now is smaller so we haven’t bothered but now, we have to keep the doors slightly ajar because of the dog. I’m wondering about hanging a curtain on the wall in the hall outside the living-room door to keep the heat in a bit.
Has anyone got any good heat retaining ideas if you can’t shut your doors?

I have a glass door from the hall (not heated) into the living room and the glass is very cold, it’s not aesthetically pretty but I stick bubble wrap over the glass it seems to work. There’s only me in the house and I don’t care what it looks like.

My front door and side window unit is in a recess - just like an ordinary French/patio door arrangement, so we put up an 8 ft wooden curtain pole and a pair of old, lounge, lined curtains, This left a 6inch void and if the curtains were drawn, but not to meet, the door could be left open if necessary.
