Saw someone jogging past outside so felt sufficiently motivated to get up off the settee and close the curtains

Free at last! Hooray! Premier Dan is now everyones’ best friend by announcing lifting of most restrictions as of Tuesday. I haven’t caught up with all the details, b ut pubs, clubs, cafes etc. can all open again, at least those that haven’t gone to the wall. Nothing about facemasks so I guess they stay. Some wit remarked that they’ve been useful for confirming whether or not you’ve got bad breath!

Thank you all for your interest in Freda; unfortunately she’s feeling a bit flat at the moment because the gardener pulled her plug the other day to make way for his 2-stroke leaf blower and didn’t replace it resulting in me finding her in a distressed state with no get-up and go! She’s now getting plenty of amps!
What’s wrong with the good oldfashioned broom!? Good exercise and much quieter.
Stephen Welcome to this kind and gentle thread. Where are you from? and no jokes about the birds and bees thank you!
Actually the ride on Freda is very comfortable; all-round 4-wheel suspension, wide tyres and a swivel seat making it safer to dismount! grin

Jane; my kindly neighbours, especially the ones who bring round homemade soup and scones are Merrin and Jan. They’ll laugh when I tell them you think they are scooters! wink
Most acqaintences are now aware of GN and always ask “How are your Grannies?”to which I always reply “Very friendly company” (I told you I’m Britain’s diplomatic attache, answer to Sir Les P.)
Btw; latest issue of “The Oldie” arrived today; problem; bulk mail travels to OZ via Zurich or Rotterdam so should I disinfect its wrapper!?

Megs Having just understood all about “shielding” you now throw in “Tier”.!
I’ve heard of “top tier” before, but how does it work?
Brazil nuts are the challenge, especially for arthritic wrists. I accumulate them ready for a trip to the vice in the garage; it’s remarkable how all the last nuts in the bowl turn out to be full of dust!
Of course you’re going to have Christmas; just put on Frankie singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, something like that!

Jaxjacky You’re allowed to put jokes on this thread too! I saw you! We’re open minded! shock
Now that glass of wine, whether it’s red or white, should really be Guinness!
Do you buy that by the “Box” too!?

Ordinary weather all week and it’s mid-Spring! Brisbane branch of the family escaped that huge hail storm yesterday and had their swimming pool topped up for free; and the temp. remained in the upper 20s. hmm

“The curfew tolls etc.”
Good Health wine wine wine wine

Hi Rufus, the dreaded Tiers, there are three The country isardivided according to serious ness of the situation, I believe Scotland and the North are three with loads of restrictions, parts of London and Essex are too, I am in number one I believe but seeing as there are classes medium, high and very high not sure what’s happened to low. Now talk of Tier 4 if more disobedience. Massive naughty chairs everywhere it seems. Gettit? because I’m sure I don’t. Glad you seem to be getting back to normal (I hope), heard from NZ rellies that they have some more cases, quite worrying as they have been OK so far.
Poor Freda, maybe she’ll enjoy a trip to the pub tomorrow .

Cheers ???????

There is actually a five level system in Scotland Rufus, not three as stated.

Here are some links to help you understand it better:

Scottish govt just has to be different so we have 5 tiers. Confusingly they are 0-4. We'll hear more about what they actually mean later in the week. Just wish the whole UK had the same system. Oh well.
Glad you have friendly nieghbours and that poor Freda is having a rest.
We would do with a leaf blower. I try my best but I'm rubbish at it so just confine myself to keeping those sets of steps clear.

Hi Rufus, glad all’s well and you’ve been let out, poor Freda, know how she feels some days! My Belfast husband would have forty fits at Guinness in a box, but he likes the cold flow some pumps now have.
Man rushes into the doctor with a parsnip in each ear and a carrot up each nostril ‘ Doctor, I feel awful, I can’t hear or breathe’ The Doctor replies ‘ Sir, you’re not eating properly’
Stay safe ?

Hi Rufus, please to see things are heading in the right direction for you to get back to some sort of normality.
I hope Freda gets her spark back. grin
I live in the (very) North of Cumbria, 20 min's away from Scotland and at the moment in the lowest tier but to the East, Newcastle is tier 3 (highest)
Up the road we have Manchester & Liverpool tier 3
North, the central belt in Scotland is high up in their tiers and seem to be heading South.
So I fear the worst the it's only a matter of time before we get put under house arrest. smile

It's been raining here all day so pretty miserable outside, although it has to be said that when you live a few miles way from big puddles of water that we call the Lake District, rain is never far away. A small price to pay for the stunning scenery we have.
Anyway, stay safe & stay well.
Cheers.

Evening Rufus Just got in from work, came home in the dark tonight after the clocks went back it felt very strange.
Still in tier 2 where I live so it's not too bad here.
I hope Freda charges up soon, so you can get out and about.

It should have been "Pleased to see".
I seem to have an extra THE after "I fear the worst"
Why can't we have an edit button? Even if it was just active for 10 min's or so.
