Hello, hope someone can come up with a good recipe. My grand-daughters are keen to make brownies with me next time they visit - Friday this week! I looked at the Mary Berry recipe and was horrified at the amount of calories in each slice - nearly 500! I suppose I could just cut them into smaller slices, but a healthier recipe would be great. Does anyone have one please?

Sorry I think all brownies are rather high in calories more so if you include nuts. I often half the sugar in cake recipes without any discernible difference apart from the sweetness I don't know if you can do that with brownies. How about doing some biscuits instead? If they are active girls I would still give them an occasional treat like this and they do tend to be quite filling so perhaps they wont want so much of anything else????

I had problems scrolling down beyond full English breakfast for 230 cals!

It is one of the joys of low-carbing that you can have full English breakfast (apart from the bread).

I wonder if you could substitute apple sauce for sugar? Brownies are supposed to be gooey.
And cocoa for the chocolate? Cornflour for wheat flour?
Experiment with small quantities.

There is no sugar in those brownies * Tricia* any sweetness comes from a few dates . And the chocolate is 80% if possible. They are quite gooey though

I might try that recipe instead of my usual banana walnut brownies. I was going to make them for visitors on Sunday, but one has gone dairy free, so probably wouldn't be able to eat anything with butter in it. I have some coconut oil, but have never used it. Just how gooey are they?

I just looked at the recipe [blush) - it's really veggie!
I hardly dare try it.
I make the normal fattening kind but do half the sugar and fat (veg. margarine)
