My quiche is not as tasty as shop bought.

I am trying to make my own quiche. Second time and pastry is thick and stodgy. I baked it blind first. Egg tomato and smoked cheese filling is tasteless. I thought baking from scratch would be better than shop bought. My husbands non comment said it all. It smelled and looked perfect. Should I go back to shop bought?

shysal glad you enjoyed it. I was put onto Bisquik by an American friend and couldn't believe it when she described the things you can make!

I prefer shop bought, with the proviso it comes from Sainsbury.Just had some of their crustless quiche lorraine,
With salad, wonderful!

bisquick has been a staple in the states for almost 100 years.we all grew up knowing how to make fast baked goods.and shortcake,pancakes.waffles.bisquits(american ones)
quiche,we use butter in ours always a must to bring out flavors. gd is learning to make them now.frittatas are easier

The bought ones are heaving with salt.

Maybe that’s why they are so tasty?
Certainly since bread now has hardly any salt, it tastes of cardboard and doesn’t keep more than 2 days.
