Iced coffee

I really enjoy iced coffee so I thought I would make my own. I looked in Sainsbury’s and they had the old fashioned camp coffee which was 47% sugar ?

Have any of you made your own - instant or ground coffee ?

Yes - dead easy. LIke a milkshake really, with a spoonful of instant coffee dissolved in boiling water stirred into a glass of milk, sugar to taste. Dollop of vanilla or coffee ice cream.

For the luxury version, pile on whipped cream, sprinkle with chocolate vermicelli or toasted almond flakes.

I do the same as JackyB but without the sugar. I dissolve mine in room temperature water and add loads of ice.

Oh goodness Nankate. I like a milky Camp coffee very occasionally, and use it to flavour cakes and glace icing. I had no idea how much sugar it contained ?

I brew a few extra cups in my coffee pot in the morning. Later, when I want an iced coffee, I fill a glass with ice cubes or crushed ice, add 2 teaspoons of sugar, pour in cold coffee to about 3/4 full. Add milk to the top, stir and enjoy.

So if you are using a teaspoon of the Camp coffee you are using half a teaspoon of sugar. Don't worry about it - it isn't going to kill you.
