re-heating food

I am on who regularly cooks more than rquired. The extra is 'served' intoportion or 2 person sized storage boxes as I serve the meal. A lid instantly put on it and it is in the freezer within 2 hours. that way, nothing is heated more than once.

Apart from anything else I would think food that has been reheated three times must taste horrible. Grossly over cooked, texture and flavour completely gone.

What a nuisance Fennel.
I divide bigger meals into 2 portion size containers (ie a supper for the two of us) and freeze. Then I have the bonus of a nice easy supper, with virtually no cooking.

I sometimes re-heat food more than once blush
That said, I am always very careful to make sure it is very thoroughly reheated , not just warmed up (at boiling/simmering point for at least 10 mins). So far, so good, but maybe we've just been lucky!

Divide leftovers into ‘one meal for you two’ portions, then freeze what you will not be eating in the next 24 hours. Reheat in smaller quantities.

??? You should only reheat food once and even then it should be piping hot! Years ago, there was a feature on TV. " If you are reheating leftovers be sure to cook them thoroughly and reheat ONLY ONCE! "

Fennel if you make more than you need it’s safer to keep it in the fridge and only take out and heat what you’re going to eat rather than reheating same meat again. Or freeze into portions for use at a later date.
Hope you feel better soon.

Oh, that is a lot. We don’t waste food, but only re heat once, as then it’s usually all eaten. Maybe make smaller quantities in future?

3 - Oh dear blush.

How many times did you re heat it?

I should know better a my age - we both have a stomach upset probably due to re'heating leftovers of a mix of beef and lamb stews too many times. Don't like to waste food.
It has happened before but I didn't recognise the symptoms - suddenly feeling feverish and stomach heaving. During the night. In fact I went to the Dr. about it once and he was puzzled - said it sounds like stomach - take Gaviscon etc.
Feeling better now, but wanted to warn others. Plus advice on how and what to re-heat.
Don't tell me off - I know now I was stupid!
