I have been on antibiotics for a long time and eventually come off them today, hurray. I feel jucky as I am taking all my usual tablets plus some pain killers after a tooth extraction and generally need to take something to get my body back on track. Can anyone recommend a probiotic which may do the trick ?

I use Optibac probiotics. They do a particular one for those on antibiotics. I haven't tried it myself, but am happy with the one I use.

They are also quite helpful if you contact them through the website.

I like Activia yoghurt. A very palatable way to repopulate the gut.

I tried Yakult after a course of antibiotics and they gave me even worse diarrhoea than the antibiotics had done. confused I learned afterwards that this is quite a common effect.

Acidophilus was recommended to me by a GP as I took antibiotics for 10 months.
It worked well, apparently you would have to eat gallons of yoghurt to get the same effect as 1 acidophilus.
