Well I've finally taken the plunge and started on the forums. My name is Diane and I have recently become the local editor for Gransnet, the Cotswolds. I'm hoping that we can make this a nice, friendly community. A place where all local grans (and granddads too, and anyone else for that matter) can come for a natter, or a grumble, or to post anything that may be of interest to other local gransnetters. In fact anything, and everything, that you wish to share with us. I am enjoying getting the site up and running and would love to get to know some of you, and in time, hopefully, we can start having local meet-ups, for coffee maybe?

I am married with three grown up children and two grandchildren. I still work part-time but enjoy having some time to myself to persue my many interests and hobbies. I live in a lovely part of the country and I hope, through this site, to interest anybody who is thinking of visiting, and maybe give them some insights into what there is to see and do here. Please feel free to post on the site any places that you can recommend or news, or indeed anything else that you think would be of interest to us all.

I look forward to getting to know you, and if there is anything you wish to know about or see on the site, then please let me know, either by posting here or by PM me, via the Inbox at the top of the site.

Diane smile

Hi Diane! I do hope you get lots of local Gransnetters keen to become involved in the GN community. It's a wonderful way for those who feel a bit isolated to make new friends, either online or in person. Hope to hear about a meet-up happening for you soon smile

Thank you Wayfinder, for taking the time to post here. I am hoping that as the site grows I will get lots of people getting involved, my local introduction is soon to be shown on the main Gransnet site, so am hoping that brings some more traffic. Please feel free to visit again, you are very welcome.

Hi Diane. I visit your area frequently as DD1 lives in Ashton Keynes. I am trying to decide whether to up sticks and move 450 miles south so the info you put on the site will help me to come to that decision! I love Ciren, it has a very welcoming cosy feel to it. I was with the gs's in the open air pool during the summer and frequent quite a few restaurants and pubs in the area!

Whoopee! A local site at last! I am 9 miles from Cirencester, the next village along from Ashton Keynes (Upper Minety), so I am really glad you have taken this on. Thank you, Diane, I am looking forward to getting to know others in the area, virtually or in reality. flowers for you.
Gally, next time you are in the area, let's meet for a coffee or glass of sloe gin - they've been brilliant this year and mine is maturing nicely wine

Gally Fri 29-Nov-13 16:26:25

Icy that would be lovely. I am just about to take off for hotter climes, but will certainly contact you next time I am visiting probably Feb/March

Welcome ladies Gally and Icyalittlebit, lovely to meet you. I am hoping to eventually have local meet ups, maybe for coffee, or even for lunch, once we get a few more members. My site is as you can see, still in it's fairly early stages, I will be branching out into social media with a local gransnet facebook page and maybe even twitter eventually.

Gally please read through all the listings I have put up about different areas of the Cotswolds, will give you some insight about the different places, and if there is anything else you would like to know, please contact me, or put your queries in the forum, and hopefully as more people start using it, you may get some useful answers. Please keep visiting ladies, I really would like to make this a thriving local GN site, and look forward to eventually getting to know more of you through meet-ups. If there is any place or event coming up in the area that I have not covered, please feel free to put a listing up, it really is very simple to do. Any questions or things you would like to see added to the site please feel free to contact me by 'inboxing' me at the top of the site.
Diane.

There seem to be a few hiccups with the pages still, at this early stage. Can't Inbox you Diane ('page not found') and Add a Listing doesn't seem to work either. Don't you just love it when ......

Dianeayr Sat 30-Nov-13 09:47:21

Sorry you are having problems Icyalittlebit, will try and find out why the inbox messaging isn't working. I can always be contacted on my gransnet email which is [email protected] I don't know why the adding a listing isn't working for you, it seems fine my end. Are you using the links on the left of the page? If you click on the relevant link there should be a link at the top right of the page which says 'add a listing', which you then click on and the listing page should come up. Can you let me know if you still can't get it to work and I will contact one of the managers so they can get the tech people to look at it.

PM's not working either - it just clicks back to this page hmm

Dianeayr Sat 30-Nov-13 15:43:22

Gally, have reported this problem and am waiting for an answer, will post when I have heard back from them.

Diane I'm using an iPad, I don't know if that is relevant? On my screen, Add a Listing is on the top right, but nothing happens when I click it.

Dianeayr Sat 30-Nov-13 21:58:51

Not sure if using an iPad would make a difference, will find out. Are you selecting a category from the links on the left before trying to add a listing? May be worth a try. I have emailed gransnet HQ, to see what they can advise, will post when I get a reply.

Icyalittlebit Sun 01-Dec-13 09:12:05

Okay, Diane, if I click on one of the existing listings, I then get the categories, but I was trying to use the Add a Listing link from this page.

Dianeayr Sun 01-Dec-13 17:00:04

Icyalittlebit you can add a listing from this page, once you have clicked on it you have to choose a sub category where you want to list and then click 'add listing' again, you should then get the listing page up. Have tried adding a listing using my hubby's tablet, which worked so can't see why your iPad wouldn't?

Icyalittlebit Mon 02-Dec-13 10:08:13

Well, we will just have to put it down to iOS . No action at all when I click (tap) on Add a Listing from this page. It's no big deal, don't worry about it. As I said, I can do so via the route I posted. It was just while I was bug-hunting I thought I would mention it. Stuff happens......
I was only going to add a great place to buy Christmas trees grin

Dianeayr Mon 23-Dec-13 21:10:43

A merry Christmas and a happy new year to all local gransnetters. Here's hoping we can get some more people joining us in the new year and we can maybe then get to arrange a first meet up. Enjoy the holidays all anyway.

So pleased to find an active Local Gransnet site in this area! I had been watching the Gloucestershire site, and tried the forums, but it doesn't seem to have taken off. Well done Diane for getting things going in the Cotswolds. I've added this site to my 'favourites' and will keep checking in.

Dianeayr Mon 03-Mar-14 19:51:14

Welcome to you too SladValleyChristine, yes please do keep checking back, we will hopefully at some point have enough of us to do a local meet up, it will be lovely to get to know some of you. In the meantime please feel free to add any local events to the site, the more the merrier. I also have a facebook page, still in the early stages. You can access it by clicking on the F button on my sites front page, and will also at some point will add twitter, not for a while yet though, still got much to learn!

Hi
Why has this Forum gone quiet? Was hoping to find out more from local Gransnetters about living in Gloucester. My daughter lives in Brockworth.

JB01 Sat 27-May-17 12:13:55

Hi, I live in Gloucester and if there's anyone out there I would love to hear back from you.
