Scotland? What about East Anglia?

Whatever powers are devolved to Scotland should also be given to the people of East Anglia. That was the challenge made in the House of Commons on Wednesday by Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell.

Sir Bob pointed out that more people live in Essex than had voted “yes” for independence in the Scottish Referendum earlier this month. During Scottish Questions, Liberal Democrat Sir Bob said that if all residents of the United Kingdom were to be treated equally and fairly then it was only right that whatever powers were devolved to Scotland should also be given to those living in East Anglia.

Afterwards Sir Bob said that he previously not taken part in Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish questions but he wanted to highlight what he considers to be an unfairness in giving Scotland yet more powers to determine its own affairs whereas those living in England are being treated less favourably in his opinion.
