If you are a grandparent estranged from your grandchildren due to family breakdown you will know only too well how difficult it is at Christmas time. For the last 7 years our charity BGSG, has had a Christmas tree, our "Tree of Hope," where grandparents send us emails or come and write messages to their grandchildren and then put them on the tree. As we get closer to Christmas Day, it is a beacon of light.

Thank you to all the grandparents who have sent messages to their grandchildren this year. I wish I could say there aren't many but in fact there are more than ever. Each message has been written with such love, a wonderful beacon to all our grandchildren.
I would like to wish all grandparents a happy, healthy Christmas and a hopeful 2017.

Just signed up!smile

I don't know if saying something about me would be helpful to anyone wishing to get involved with a conversation, but I am a Gran and I'm heart broken because my contact with my grandchildren has been broken.

Ive thought about this long and hard, but find it very hard to do anything but cry and rage and then cry again.

Its hard for people to understand the devastation I feel, when I cant understand anything about this situation for my self.

I think Ill leave it there for now.

Thanks for reading.

It takes great courage to make that first step.
We hold meetings in Bristol and in other areas of the UK and we also link grandparents up in their areas.
