Boris and the will of 'his' people

On Tuesday I believe, there is to be a vote in the House of Commons regarding the additional runway at Heathrow Airport. Boris Johnson has loudly and publicly proclaimed his opposition to this, fair enough, and stood for his constituency on the basis of this opposition, including lots of silly statements about laying down in front of steamrollers etc. It now appears, that unlike his Cabinet colleague Greg Hands who stood down because he intends to honour his pledge to his constituents to vote against a third runway, Boris will be washing his hair out of the country on important FO business ( despite Alan Duncan being pencilled in for this visit). So, what value the will of the people in Boris' constituency?

Oh, come on, Gill. It's 'f*ck business' Boris you're talking about. Do you really expect him to value anything apart from his reputation as a 'good laugh'?

Can't help thinking that all those people who voted for him because he was a 'good laugh' and a 'bit of a lad' will now realise what a devious bastard he really is, and quite frankly they've got what they deserved.

Oh dear, I'm bad. My first though on reading your post was 'What size steamroller would you need to run over Boris?' blush grin

You wouldn't be the first SueDonim, there is rumoured to be many MPs who think the third runway is worth the drama and expense just to see Boris run over!. He has certainly shown himself to be what he is; a devious, self-serving liar with a dangerous way of speaking, maybe he will put his objections to the third runway on the side of a bus? Worked for him last time.
