Women???

You can't possibly be suggesting that men might take a turn?

I didn't read beyond the register / pay wall, but while I don't like it, I think it is still true that women are much more likely to find themselves in this position. Yet another reason why women will continue to have lower incomes than men after retirement for the foreseeable future.
I wonder if this will ever change

Women will have to give up work to look after their ageing parents and grandparents unless EU care workers are given priority after Brexit, ministers have warned.

The Department of Health said that in a "worst case scenario" if EU migrants are barred from coming to the UK there will be a shortfall of 6,000 doctors, 12,000 nurses and 28,000 care staff within five years.

In a 37-page dossier it said that there will be a "wider risk to labour market participation" because growing numbers of people, "especially women", will have to give up their jobs to provide "informal care" for loved ones.

So no-one is telling women to give up work, but it is very likely to be women who would do so if a family member needs care.

Never mind, if the NHS has so many fewer staff it won't miss not having the £££££'s predicted by Boris.
