Congratulations to North Ayrshire Council for becoming the first local authority in the UK to extend free provision of sanitary products to all public buildings including libraries and community centres.
Starting this term, the Scottish Government is already funding such provision to schools and universities, and to women on low incomes, but North Ayrshire's additional all-inclusive approach will ensure these essential items will be much more accessible by all who struggle to afford them...which is one in four of the younger female population, apparently.
Labour MSP Monica Lennon has campaigned effectively for free provision of sanitary products and has received backing from politicians across the Scottish political range, with the addition of the public's response to a survey which showed 96% support. I know this subject has been discussed before, but I thought I'd give an update from north of the border.
The King is to resume some duties.
