Harold Wilson - I don't agree with everything he did but he presided over so many good things:

Open University
Kept Britain out of Vietnam War (despite much pressure from the US)
Equal Pay Act
Decriminalisation of homosexuality
Increased exports by 40%

Barbara Castle

David Owen. Also loved watching Denis Healey speak as his eyebrows were fascinating!

there have been none who didn't make massive mistakes ,Blair did a lot of good things but his Iraq war was a huge problem for the folk I know who voted Labour and Brown was a great disappointment but might hav eredeemed himself IF he'd got the chance .I think I'd have to go much further back to find someone who believed in the things I do ,so I'm going for Robert Bontine Cunningham Graham ,co founder of the Labour party ,Independence supporter and first leader of the party that is now the Scottish National Party .A true socialist and a man who had an amazing life .For those who haven't heard of him google him, also known as Don Roberto

Margaret Thatcher - love her (I did) or hate her, she wouldn't have had all this nonsense.

rascal Thu 23-May-19 21:31:10

David Cameron! grin

Urmstongran Thu 23-May-19 21:29:31

Anniebach
I was correct.
I mistook Miliband for Clegg, Nick Clegg, who was pictured eating a bacon butty/sarnie/roll.

NotSpaghetti Thu 23-May-19 21:13:08

I too liked Miliband Gonegirl - I appreciated the fact that he always tried to explain the complications and nuance of things. Unfortunately I think that's what most people disliked about him. Most people want something simple I fear.
As for Blair - the least said about him the better!

Anniebach Thu 23-May-19 20:41:43

David Milliband was photographed holding a banana, Ed Miliband was photographed eating a sandwich.

GabriellaG54 Thu 23-May-19 20:13:30

Oops! I mistook Milliband for Clegg.

GabriellaG54 Thu 23-May-19 20:10:49

Bacon butties, more like. He looks dreadful when he's eating. Imagine him at dinner...yuk..?

Alima Thu 23-May-19 20:04:32

Why does David Milliband remind me of bananas?

Sara65 Thu 23-May-19 19:29:46

Agree about David Milliband, had he won the leadership election, we may now be in a very different place

Grammaretto Thu 23-May-19 19:16:19

Barbara Castle without a doubt!

Gonegirl Thu 23-May-19 19:14:08

Can King Arthur be counted as a politician please?

Other than that, I was sad to see David Milliband go.

Alima Thu 23-May-19 19:06:00

Not Tony Blair, anyone but him. If not Mrs Thatcher or Winston Churchill how about Shirley Williams?

gillybob Thu 23-May-19 18:48:46

I met John Smith a few times . A lovely man . He would have been a great leader sad

gillybob Thu 23-May-19 18:47:36

Tony Blair

NotSpaghetti Thu 23-May-19 18:39:38

John Smith...
But I doubt it’s actually possible.

GabriellaG54 Thu 23-May-19 18:38:04

Margaret Thatcher or John Smith.
