The Met has sent a letter of “regret” over the arrest of over 60+ people on Saturday.

As I said in another thread.

The police acted like idiots.

However, I am more interested in what prompted the police action, as nothing in the run up to the coronation where, both parties were actively cooperating, suggested that this would happen.

As I said - Braverman’s hand is all over this.

Oh goodness, yes!

I'm watching Question Time while I type this, so not really concentrating!

Thanks Callistemon.

I don't have to be enthusiastic about it though.
You didn’t have to be enthusiastic about the Coronation. Lots of people weren’t.

The government, or whoever, have decided that this is a good use of money. I don't think it is. Many others don't think it is. Boasting that its good for the economy is a way of justifying something that is completely unnecessary. £250bn? I'd have rather spent £10bn and had a battery factory with the rest of the money, if it comes to that.

I wasn't 'boasting' that the coronation or the concert were good for the economy. I was just pointing out the fact that they enabled economic activity. Which, whatever your opinion of the reasons they were held, is not a bad thing. It was not a 'waste' of money; we are not talking about household finances, we're talking about national finances which are not constrained by a finite amount of money.

I did agree that it didn't look good.

Well that's right, I wasn't enthusiastic.

But still today, I have to accept that this is the way our country is run. That the Disney Princes and Princesses get to decide on things that the government might do.

So not being enthusiastic about some chap being given a Sword of Invisibility (or whatever it was) doesn't matter, that's how our country works.
