Love to Learn, part of Pearson (the world's leading learning company, and home to Penguin, DK and Financial Times), are looking to find up to 70 gransnetters to try out a course of their choice from the Love to Learn collection of online courses.

Here's what they say: "Love to Learn is a range of online courses for adults who want to keep on learning, in their own time, at their own pace. The courses are designed for those who enjoy discovering new interests and acquiring knowledge – people who love to learn."

We're looking for folks to try one of the following courses (prices vary from £24.99 to £44.99):

Turning Points in Modern History

How to Read Paintings

Memory Training

Starting Your Own Enterprise

Digital Photography

Family History

Internet Basics

Grow your Own Veg (available from 12 October)

You can find out more info on the different courses available here: www.lovetolearn.co.uk/courses.

How much time the courses take up is up to you. Love to Learn say "that’s the key benefits of these courses: you can spend as much time or as little as you want. We estimate it takes about 8 to 10 hours on average for going through the online content, plus the offline activities".

This product test is open to all UK gransnetters. You'll be required to try the course out for about three weeks (though please note some courses may require more time as they involve research and activities away from the computer, i.e. Family History, Digital Photography will require more time than say Memory Training) and add your feedback to a thread on Gransnet.

If you'd like to take part please sign up here.

Everyone who takes part in the trial and leaves their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £100 John Lewis voucher. You'll also have access to the course for a whole year.

Thanks and good luck,

GNHQ

I'm doing the how to Read Paintings course and enjoying it very much. It is well structured and has helpful feedback and it is very interesting being able to see paintings in different genres and seeing how artists developed. I am about half way through but am having to stop for a while as I am very shortly moving house (after 38 years in the same house and having been widowed) so all my energies are taken up with deciding what is essential for me to have in a 2 bedroom flat and what, from my 4 bed house, can be sold, given away or thrown out.
This means that further development of my skills in reading paintings will have to wait, but I am very much looking forward to being able to pick it up again. In the meantime I have learnt enough to be able to apply this knowledge to getting much more out of looking at paintings in local galleries etc.
