What gimmicky gadget have you been sucked into recently?

This morning I nearly bought a plastic scraper that would do a million things, then a lint roller that would restore my carpets, after lunch a foundation popped up on Instagram that would change my life.
I have resisted them all and saved about £60.
What gimmicky widgety stuff have you purchased and was it good?

I bought what is called a keyboard vacuum, and I love it!

It takes care of all the "bits" that appear throughout the day, does between the sofa seats, and dusts the skirting.

I haven't been "sucked into it" though.
It's not that good. grin

I'm about to buy a bag a chicken manure for the garden. Should I?
Someone whose leeks are huge, loves it.

It might encourage foxes in for a feast.
They like to eat it, I've heard.

I have given away gadgets recently which I never use
A herb scissors
A bread maker
A magimix food processor
I still have a fruit press for juicing and winemaking which I've not used for 2 years.

I would have loved your Magimix😉

I've bought a juicer, recently and that has been a good buy. I know full well that anything large that gets put into a cupboard will never see the light of day again.

I would have taken your bread maker Sago.

MissAdventure Thu 21-Mar-24 15:09:55

Magimixes cost a fortune!

I havent been sucked into anything recently.
I learnt my lesson about 10 years ago. Well the end lesson.
Myself and someone else bought stretchy tops for jam jars, or something like that, from a trade store.
When got home, a. I soon ran out of uses for them, and b. they required strength I dont have. I threw them away. I didnt want to inflict them on anyone else.

I bought a Nutribullet blender off a shopping channel but after only using it a couple of times it was relegated to the back of the cupboard. I tried to give it to either of my DD's but they weren't interested so I took it to the recycle shop at our local recycling centre. I now have a Bamix which I do use.

Mine is a breville juicer. £12 from Ebay, and easy to store and get at.

I got sucked into the air fryer craze, and I love it!

Bought a place mat which amused me, so I also ordered a pair of coasters and a keyring in the same design.

Be warned it stinks, but so does blood, fish and bone which I use!

We use chicken manure, does the job and the local cats seem to dislike it. As we back onto fields there is often the gentle odour of muck spreading, the chicken manure odour pales into insignificance and if the neighbours comment I blame the farmer grin. Seriously the smell doesn’t last long

I bought a window vac last year and it is brilliant at windows, mirrors and tiles. I've got streakfree glass for the first time in over half a century.

My juicer was relegated to the back of a cupboard (takes too long to clean), along with my pasta maker and ice cream maker.

My food processor and breadmaker have earned there worktop space.

I suppose my Ninja might count as a 'gadget' but I love it and it's used on an almost daily basis. I bought a Crimpit last year, which as the name suggests, 'crimps' wraps or thins (there are two different shaped ones) which you can then eat as they are or heat up. It's brilliant and I've since bought them for my son and daughter too - and they also love them.

Which one please? grin

I bought an electric omelette maker on a recommendation.
It works, is ok but no better or easier/quicker than an omelette pan.

My husband cringes at the mention of gadgets of any type as I’m obsessed!!

He calls them “dust collectors” and he’s not far wrong 😂😂😂😂

MissAdventure Thu 21-Mar-24 16:44:46

Does anyone use their George Forman grill?

MissAdventure Thu 21-Mar-24 16:45:57

Spelt it wrong somehow.
Forgotten how to spell, these days.

CanadianGran Thu 21-Mar-24 17:04:36

Not a gadget, but I was looking at a recipe for pots de chocolate online, then picked up some small ramekins.

That was about 3 weeks ago, and I haven't made the recipe yet!
Need a kick in the backside to get a move on.

Callistemon21 Thu 21-Mar-24 17:16:39

My bread maker stopped working and went to the recycling centre but I'm resisting buying another, we'll only eat the bread, it's so good.
