I am amazed that so little is being discussed about this secret society in the Governement. They have a massive influence, and we deserve to know who they are, and how many are in the current Cabinet. Don't you think so?

Especially as they refuse point blank to reveal who they are. Surely, this is not acceptable in a Democracy

As Brexit is now a fact of life the ERG per se is less important, more to the fore are the right wing of the party wether they supported Brexit or not. It’s very difficult to put names to that label, we can see how they vote on any issue but mostly they follow the party line, we don’t often hear their private opinion.mil,

From Wikipedia......

On 6 September 2022 Liz Truss succeeded Boris Johnson as Prime Minister and appointed known ERG subscribers to nine senior Cabinet positions including two of the Great Offices of State:

Thérèse Coffey was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Health and Social Care

Suella Braverman was appointed Home Secretary

James Cleverly was appointed Foreign Secretary

Brandon Lewis was appointed Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor

Penny Mordaunt was appointed Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council

Jacob Rees-Mogg was appointed Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

Kit Malthouse was appointed Secretary of State for Education

Anne-Marie Trevelyan was appointed Secretary of State for Transport

Chris Heaton-Harris was appointed Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.

As Brexit is NOT done, and threats to the GFA is scuppering the chances of a Deal with the US, and our relationship with Europe too, it is more important than ever, I am afraid.

Hardly secret if it’s on Wikipedia and Gransnet!

The ones on Wikipedia are only the ones who have declared being members. Please watch the interview with Suella Braverman in my post at 12.18.50. Most of them are NOT declared. Most importantly, they do not HAVE TO declare.

It’s secret in that very few people in this country seem to know about it. And they will have been instrumental in choosing who would be PM of this country.

Oh dear, Katie59. They all supported Brexit or rapidly converted (like Truss) when they sniffed an opportunity for advancement.

The ERG is of the utmost importance because they are now in a position of absolute power to put their barmy and deeply unpleasant ideas into practice.

The ERG has always been a radical ultra right wing grouping. The "European Reform Group" tag is a smokescreen to hide their real purpose.....a far right coup.....and they are achieving that with not inconsiderable assistance from English voters.
