DH and I took GS to see Sean the Sheep yesterday. GS and I thought it was very funny but Grandad was not that impressed and he's the big Sean the Sheep fan.

I went to see shaun the sheep on Sunday with my friend and her GD.It was very funny in parts, and it warmed my heart to hear all the young children in the cinema gurgling and laughing.smile

It must be clingfilm, judging by the number of times I've seen it.

The Theory of Everything. Magnificent acting !

Tegan Fri 06-Feb-15 22:33:45

Shaun the Sheep has had rave reviews hasn't it. No dialogue I believe confused....

jo1book Fri 06-Feb-15 22:31:54

Saw Into the Woods last weekend with granddaughters. Thought it very good and interesting to see the twists that turn fairytales into real life. However, it is also a big stagey which means you could wait and watch it on telly.

Same GD's are taking me to see Shaun the Sheep this weekend. Can't wait.

Wheniwasyourage Fri 09-Jan-15 09:57:52

What's Up Doc?, Keeping Mum, Where Eagles Dare, Sergeant Bilko, St Trinian's (the 4 original ones), When Harry Met Sally, Thoroughly Modern Millie. Not in any particular order, but these are all films which, when I finish watching them, I want to start again.

Greyduster Thu 08-Jan-15 16:42:23

The Lion in Winter; the Hepburn O'Toole one, not the one with Patrick Stewart and Glenn Close. Wonderful film, wonderful sound track by John Barry. Treated myself to a DVD of it this Christmas.

Agus Thu 08-Jan-15 14:17:46

I also want to change the ending of those two Oldgreymare sad

Another one here who just doesn't get all the fuss about I'ts a Wonderful Life. Too cheesy for me.

Mrso Thu 08-Jan-15 13:54:43

The magnificent seven I saw it 5 times

EEJit Thu 08-Jan-15 13:52:14

The Hunt for Red October has to be my top choice followed by any of the Ice Age or Shrek films.

annodomini Thu 08-Jan-15 09:56:42

This is a recycled thread and someone called annobel has already said it all for me!

Oldgreymare Thu 08-Jan-15 09:46:33

The Bridges of Madison County.... but I do so want to change the ending!
Out of Africa...... ditto
More recently:
Quartet
Pride
lots more really, but will stop at that.

vegasmags Thu 08-Jan-15 09:34:25

True Grit is my favourite film. I love both the original and the remake. Master and Commander runs a close second.

Iam64 Thu 08-Jan-15 09:18:21

I watched Zulu, for the first time, last week. I knew the film covered an episode during which a small number of Brits held off a large number of Zulu's and always avoided watching it because I felt it may offend my sensibilities.

I was gripped and terrified in equal measure. I still feel uncomfortable about reluctantly admiring the heroism of the small band of Welsh fusileers whilst identifying with the anger of the Zulu's. Complex or what? No doubt that's why it's still shown on the movie channels.

The alternative option that evening was The Outlaw Josie Wales which I wished I'd watched, again!

Grannyknot Thu 08-Jan-15 09:15:35

Pompa husband and I thoroughly enjoyed that film too.

Katek Thu 08-Jan-15 08:54:46

Crimson/SJP.....has to be Carry on Cleo, legion marching to 'sinister, dexter, sinister, dexter' and Sid James lusting after Cleopatra with sighs of 'puer, oh puer, oh puer' !

Soutra Thu 08-Jan-15 08:38:37

Hard to say but I do know what won't make my "top ten" list- that "favourite" of the festive season It's a Wonderful World which I saw for the first time on TV this year. Wooden acting, cliched characters, stilted dialogue and a sketchy plot line at best- why on earth do people rave about it?
