We have now drained the very last drop from the large bottle of Baileys that
We bought for Christmas. so, do we buy another one this week and be strong willed, or buy one and hope it lasts another week, or simply give in to the inevitable and buy a bottle every week until Christmas day.grin

More whine than wine!

You could make your own Bailey's from condensed milk, coffee powder and I can't think what else. I did make it a couple of times and probably have the recipe somewhere. I think it has whisky in it. You get quite a lot which should keep you going until Christmas.

17% alcohol! Don't you worry about your health?

rosesarered Wed 25-Nov-15 22:06:13

It has brandy in it I think. No Jingl I am as fit as a flea.

I love advocaat as well, so must get some of that in.

Ana Wed 25-Nov-15 22:09:22

No, it's definitely whisky!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 25-Nov-15 22:10:53

I thought it was whisky!

Bellanonna Wed 25-Nov-15 22:12:28

Get one and be strong willed ! I like it but one small glass enough as it's quite sickly.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 25-Nov-15 22:12:29

Actually it's whiskey. It's Irish.

rosesarered Wed 25-Nov-15 22:14:26

Whatever it is, it's delish!Yes, another bottle ( no will power though.)

merlotgran Wed 25-Nov-15 22:16:04

It's horrible!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 25-Nov-15 22:16:48

Sounds it.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 25-Nov-15 22:17:25

roses don't you read the label before you swig? confused

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 25-Nov-15 22:18:19

...and brandy tastes quite a lot different to whisky! grin

Ana Wed 25-Nov-15 22:18:52

I love it! smile

Ana Wed 25-Nov-15 22:19:17

(you can't taste the whisky...)

rosesarered Wed 25-Nov-15 22:42:14

I never swig from the bottle Jingl ( no matter how desperate I am for a slurp) and nope, never read the ingredients, knew it was either brandy, whisky, coffee and cream. It tastes more like brandy to me, but am prepared to believe it's whiskey, hardly matters, I love it. smile

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 25-Nov-15 22:43:14

I didn't mean from the bottle! grin

rosesarered Wed 25-Nov-15 22:43:47

I expect you can buy it all year round, but we only buy it near Christmas, but we always run out of it and have to buy another.

rosesarered Wed 25-Nov-15 22:44:18

grin I know!

Pittcity Wed 25-Nov-15 22:48:29

A lot of supermarkets do their own version . I would recommend Aldi's.
At least that way your bad habit won't be so expensive.

rosesarered Wed 25-Nov-15 22:51:03

Sounds a good tip thanks, but Mr Roses is a sucker stickler for brands, I fear it will have to be Baileys.

merlotgran Wed 25-Nov-15 23:01:18

Can't stand the stuff. Memories of years ago when you succumbed to every bug your kids brought home. We met friends at their favourite Indian restaurant for a birthday celebration. I was going down with something and felt awful. The meal was nice but I can't stand Indian desserts as they're so sweet and sickly. I was hanging on in there until the restaurant owner brought out drinks on the house for the 'birthday girl'

The men had brandy (lucky sods) but we girls were given......Baileys!

My heart sank and I looked around for a potted plant.

The blighter pulled up a chair and joined us so I had to drink the evil, sickly stuff.

Worse was to come.....he topped up our glasses.

NEVER again.

rosesarered Wed 25-Nov-15 23:32:37

grin Even I, as a dedicated Baileys slurper, could not drink it after an Indian meal, shudder. No wonder you hate it now.
