Hi. I always wanted to chat with someone from "across the pond". Find out differences, if any, in everyday life or even what certain phrase' s mean and other such things. I'm a nice person with grown kid's and a granddaughter. Anyway would love to learn about as much as I can! Oh, I'm married to the same man for year's, if you can believe that!! and our family and life is Christian based all the way. I love to laugh and believe in happiness everyday, although some days that is a hard concept to hang onto. So come on, help me out here. Would appreciate it.

I will have to look up where Wisconsin is. Only been to Florida in the USA.
We definitely dont say "Have a nice day" over here. Though it was nice to hear, and I have never forgotten it.

I think[could be wrong as I am a relative newcomer to this site myself], that there are several gransnetters that have been married to the same man for years like myself.
I am a christian too. Not sure that there are that many of them on here, could be wrong.

You can certainly bring your laughter and happiness on here, most welcome.

Hi, welcome to GN smile

Yes I can believe that your still married to the same man, so am I after 40 yrs and several other GN members too.

It would probably be easier if you start a thread with whatever you want to ask when it comes to discovering the differences in life here and the US.

Hello ineverknewthelove and welcome to GN.
There are some other American Gransnetters, and quite a few like me who have family in the US and travel there to visit them.
I'm also one of the long-marrieds and DH and I have a boat in the US which we are using to travel the Great Loop. We should be going through the Great Lakes and passing Wisconsin some time in 2016. grin

Just join in any of the threads that interest you, you'll soon get the hang of it smile

Hi there, Inever! Welcome. I have been to, and through Wisconsin quite a few times, on the way to our American friends' cabin up in Minnesota. If I remember, Wisconsin is a green, rolling country sort of state, full of really friendly people (well, the USA is, anyway!)

We have travelled a lot in the States, for various reasons, and it is one of my favourite places to go for an easy, comfortable holiday. Look forward to talking to you. smile

Welcome Inever. Looking forward to hearing more from you we have friends in Virginia and had a splendid time in America when we visited. We explored a bit of New England and a fair bit of Virginia and would love to go back to discover more about your lovely country.

Hi Ineverknew, welcome to Gransnet. I too am a long married sufferer, just over 51 years now, you get less than that for murder! The only time I`ve been to the USA was back in 1991, on a trip to Florida, I would love to hire a campervan and spend a few weeks driving across and around America, but I don`t think it will happen now, pity. I look forward to hearing more about life in your part of the world.

Hello, inever. Welcome to Gransnet. I have a long term penpal in Wisconsin. We actually still write old fashioned letters with pen and paper and send them in the mail!

Hi Inever, as you can see you are so welcome to gransnet....I, like many others have a life long pen friend in USA. We started writing in 1954 and we are still writing, but in the form of emailing.my friend lives in IOWA and we have emailed every week for all those years. We have never met, but feel we no each other so well. All our problems in life we have shared, and given each other some great advice...I am now a widow, and cherish her friendship more than ever.my son and family took me with them to Florida, to Disneyland, but sadly I didn't get to Iowa. Its good to hear you are a Christian, they are fading fast in UK its sad to say.as America is so vast am I right in saying that even in the USA things vary quite a lot from state to state. How about you giving us some of your differences and we could compare with ours...we would love to hear from you.
