Less than three weeks to this. I have seven names -

Annodomini
Marelli
Thatbags
Indigo7
Elizabeth1
Dunit
Elegran

I have booked lunch at the ROSL (from 12.30-ish) again, as that was the consensus last time we met. I said 8 of us, as there always seems to be someone to add. The numbers can be adjusted up or down, at any point. Is anyone else interested?

Can't believe this has come around so quickly. Is this still on Elegran?

Elegran Sun 24-May-15 10:04:53

Yes, still on and a table booked. I hope we get into the Balmoral room again - but the main dining-room will do.

BiNtHeReDuNiT14 Sun 24-May-15 10:11:05

Both were equally as good. Hopefully travelling with thatbags if she can cope with incessant shat for x 2 hours again... Look forward to it.

Elegran Sun 24-May-15 10:34:47

I assume you mean chat? grin

BiNtHeReDuNiT14 Sun 24-May-15 10:51:27

annodomini Sun 24-May-15 19:42:23

I'm so looking forward to meeting you all. My train from Dundee gets in to Waverley a bit before 12. I wonder if someone could meet me and show me the way to the venue. Elegran, I will pm you with my mobile number so we can keep in contact by text if there's any unexpected delay. Edinburgh, here I come!

loopylou Sun 24-May-15 19:47:46

I wish I was there sad
I was almost tempted to fly up!

Have a great time everyone smile

What time do Thatbags and Dunit get into Waverley? Or Marelli and Elizabeth1? If they dont coincide with your arrival, I will meet you in Waverley and chum you along Princes St. If all else fails, walk along Princes Street until you pass Frederick Street (or get a bus along). The ROSL is just before Boots - all you see is the entrance up some steps so you can walk past without noticing. Here is link to a map. www.rosl-edinburgh.org/directions.htm

Marelli Sun 24-May-15 21:40:10

I think Elizabeth1 and I will be getting into Waverley about 11.54. What if we met up with you, Anno? Could we meet you outside Boot's, perhaps?

Marelli Sun 24-May-15 21:43:29

That's the Boot's in Waverley station, Anno. Where the main info boards are, and opposite WH Smith.

annodomini Wed 27-May-15 19:14:37

Yes please, Marelli. I will pm you with my mobile number and perhaps you could give me yours. Just in case... I am fairly familiar with the geography of Waverley! Have been in that Boots quite often. I'll have a shiny silvery wheely case. But so will lots of other people!

thatbags Wed 27-May-15 19:44:19

I think dunit and I will get to Waverley a little after twelve. It partly depends if we meet up with indigo en route. dunit was going to get back to me on that if anf when she can.

thatbags Wed 27-May-15 19:46:23

We'll chink our coffee cups in greeting to all those who'd like to be there too but can't be smile

Marelli Wed 27-May-15 19:53:26

Anno and I are 'sorted'! smile

thatbags Wed 27-May-15 20:33:40

smile

baubles Wed 27-May-15 21:39:56

Sorry that I won't get to meet you this this time anno, I know you'll all have a grand day. brew cupcake envy

annodomini Wed 27-May-15 22:16:58

Just as long as you don't let me forget to catch my train home! Sometime around 4, I think!

annodomini Wed 27-May-15 22:17:38

baubles, I'm distraught! I'll just have to come again.

annodomini Fri 29-May-15 09:19:38

What next? The news is that there is going to be a rail strike starting at 5pm on Thursday. I'm panicking mildly and still looking for more information about how Transpennine Trains' schedule is likely to be affected. The 16.16 train from Edinburgh will probably be too late!

Oh dearie me!

annodomini Fri 29-May-15 09:26:27

So far, not very good. Advice is not to arrange to travel on strike dates. This will probably affect the rest of you who are coming from outside Edinburgh. It will be so disappointing if our meet-up doesn't come off.

Elegran Fri 29-May-15 10:00:34

That is dreadful! I have PMed everyone else, Anno It will almost certainly affect trains leaving before 5pm as well, because they will be en route when the strike starts. We could change the day - but you will only be around for a brief time, and others might not be able to make any other day either.

annodomini Fri 29-May-15 10:36:21

So very sorry everyone. I couldn't risk not getting home on Thursday - things to do etc. - and the following days will be disrupted too because rolling stock could be in the wrong places. A reasonably priced seat was available on a flight to Manchester and I have taken advantage before the price rose again - I am sure there will be increased demand from business travellers. Incidentally, according to National Rail web site refunds will be given if you have already bought a ticket.

I hope we are not fated never to meet up. sad
