Who will win ? I think Simon.

They would all be worthy winners.

We want Simon to win as well.

I don't mind Emma or Simon to win, Tony I'm not so keen on..

Yeay ! Talent and looks grin

Well he did, didn't he, and what a lovely man he appears to be. Hope he does well in the future. His meal looked so elegant, and sounded really tasty. All three were good, though weren't they, and deserved to be in the final.

Definitely a worthy winner! I am always amazed at how much they can do in only 3 hours. I would need to start about a week in advance.

rosequartz Sat 25-Apr-15 09:24:24

Me too, MrsJimJam - three hours?!
He does seem a lovely man (and a single dad too - how does he manage!) and a very worthy winner, although the others were brilliant too.

Sorry, got your name wrong blush

He's been on radio and TV this morning and he is such a worthy winner. His talent is amazing and his demeanour is charming without being in any way self-deprecating. He clearly grew in confidence during the series and now demonstrates the self-belief which suggests he will be a success - good luck to him.

I turned on my TV early this morning to watch my recording of the final before I heard the result anywhere. Lo and behold, there was Simon being interviewed in the seconds between turning on the set and pressing the play button! I thought he would win, his food was exquisite.

Just wondering how far a vegetarian would get on Masterchef. Have there ever been any?
I do not watch it because of all that meat.

merlotgran Sat 25-Apr-15 16:30:20

I'm not a vegetarian but vegetables make up a large part of our diet. I would love to see more food programmes devoted to vegetarian cooking.

If there have been any, I've forgotten them - apart from Sophie Gregson's Eat Your Greens.

It was a really good final - the best, in my opinion, ever. It was obvious Simon would win however as Greg was falling all over him for the last few episodes (and he's not really a very good actor). The food by all three contestants presented as brilliant - there was no way that Emma was going to win, simply because her food was filling and tasty therefore no need to get a take-away on the way home - thus depriving the street traders!!!! Emma was "Master Cook" (the female title for women chefs back in the day) Sorry, am biased - my grandmother Laura was a "cook" in a posh hotel, not allowed to hold the title of chef as she was female - "the good old days" some say. hmm]

rosequartz Sun 26-Apr-15 09:54:12

I would love to go to Emma's for dinner.

We did think Greg was looking for a 'bromance' with Simon - 'You're my Favourite' to quote Brucie! But we did think he deserved to win.
Such a high standard and they have set the bar so high so where to go from here?

rosequartz Sun 26-Apr-15 10:02:10

Only one niggle: will someone please tell John Torode that it's not "You have to show Greg and I how skilled you are"
It's Greg and me
Well, not me but - you know what I mean.
Goes away muttering "you have to show I how skilled you are" .....

PRINTMISS Sun 26-Apr-15 10:37:38

Oh! Yes, I too, find "Greg and I" grating. Either "me and Greg," or "Greg and me." You would not say "you must now show I how you can cook." Surely there is someone at the BBC who could tell John (who I much prefer to Greg).

rosequartz Sun 26-Apr-15 10:47:28

Yes, I would prefer it to be 'John and me' grin

Only for the fact that he is a chef and Greg isn't!

annodomini Sun 26-Apr-15 10:56:50

Yes, roseq, that's been driving me nuts for years. I think I have heard Jason Donovan making the same mistake; maybe they didn't teach them basic grammar in Australian schools.

rosequartz Sun 26-Apr-15 11:24:31

I will make a point of listening carefully to my Australian DGS when I see him!
And SIL!

annodomini Sun 26-Apr-15 11:55:52

Sadly, it's not just the Australians. That mistake is prevalent in Britain too and I think we might have had a thread on it in Pedants' Corner. Is it meant to be 'posh' to say 'I' instead of 'me'?

KatyK Sun 26-Apr-15 15:40:25

I can't watch Masterchef because of dreadful droning voice of the woman who does the voiceover. Maybe she's not doing it any more as I haven't watched for a while.
