AIBU to switch off Jeremy Clarkson on the BBC Have I got news for you?

Luckygirl Fri 02-Oct-15 21:43:45

Not if you dislike him that much, no.

I can't imagine why they have had him back to do this.

granjura Fri 02-Oct-15 21:47:25

So hope huge numbers won't watch- and give the Beeb a clear message about this ridiculous hipocrisy.

merlotgran Fri 02-Oct-15 21:51:04

We watched it.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-Oct-15 22:09:24

I watched it. It was great.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-Oct-15 22:12:57

Richard Whiteley had a good go at him. He didn't get off lightly.

It is very weird that the Beeb have let him back on though. confused

gillybob Fri 02-Oct-15 22:27:57

I watched it tonight and couldn't help but feel the whole thing was a set up. It was clear that Richard Osman (not Whiteley jings wrong show grin) had been scripted to make the comments he made. Did you notice at the end they were "full on" probably giving the "there you go mate, that's it over with....... " Chit chat..... Pathetic

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-Oct-15 22:34:42

Oh yes. I did wonder if I had his name right. grin

You are an old cynic gillybob! (Probably right though) wink Made me laugh anyway.

merlotgran Fri 02-Oct-15 22:37:50

Richard Whiteley is unfortunately no longer with us.

gillybob Fri 02-Oct-15 22:41:01

Aaaahemmm.... Less of the Old if ya don't mind jings

It won't put me off watching next week though. I love Paul Merton's quick wit and Ian Hislop's sarcasm way with words. smile

Jeremy Clarkson has always done a good job of presenting HIGNIFY.

fluttERBY123 Fri 02-Oct-15 22:52:56

Noticed that Clarkson had aged tremendously since the last time he was on there. The BBC knew he would pull in a lot of viewers. He needed to get back on the horse after all the problems (sorry, can't think of another way of putting it....) He's not doing it for the money I'm sure.

jogginggirl Fri 02-Oct-15 22:53:36

Yes, it was a good programme - but I still don't like JC...

annodomini Fri 02-Oct-15 23:06:47

I enjoyed it. Even if it was scripted, Richard Osman delivered his jibes as if they were off the cuff.

Nelliemoser Fri 02-Oct-15 23:28:47

HIGNFY is not a patch on the original radio 4 version The news quiz. What I don't like about moving such programs to television is that once on the tele the team members seem to start clowning about and showing off to the audience to get laughs, instead of just getting the clever lines across.

thatbags Sat 03-Oct-15 08:30:59

JC blushed quite a bit, I thought. Good programme. No pussyfooting around. As a business proposition, it's easy to see why the Beeb still want to employ him.

Why do people mention whether they like or dislike presenters of programmes. I have no feeling towards any of the people on that programme except as to whether they are good entertainers. That, after all, is their role on the BBC.

soontobe Sat 03-Oct-15 08:39:10

But the BBC should act with at least some lines it shouldnt cross as regards guests and presenters shouldnt it.

thatbags Sat 03-Oct-15 08:41:50

If they are hardened criminals, I expect they do. If someone has done something wrong and been punshed for it, aren't we supposed to forgicpve them, soon, and move on, only expecting the best of them again?

thatbags Sat 03-Oct-15 08:42:08

forgive

soontobe Sat 03-Oct-15 08:51:39

A person is not the same as a public body, though it could be argued that the same standards apply I suppose.

Has he said sorry by the way?

gettingonabit Sat 03-Oct-15 10:18:11

I doubt the Beeb is bothered by the "should he/shouldn't he" debate. If he brings in viewers, job done!

Although I pine for the Angus Deayton days, I admire the way the Beeb has adapted the show over the years. Brilliant stuff, the Beeb!

whitewave Sat 03-Oct-15 10:23:15

Low life

sunseeker Sat 03-Oct-15 10:24:54

I thought this programme was never the same after Angus Deayton left, he was able to match wits with Paul Merton and Ian Hislop, some of the guest presenters have been embarrassing. I now only watch it occasionally - didn't last night.

thatbags Sat 03-Oct-15 10:27:48

Did Deayton leave or was he pushed? Wasn't there some supposed misdemeanor of which Auntie Beeb disapproved? Or am I imagining rather than remembering?

whitewave Sat 03-Oct-15 10:33:30

Drugs and prostitutes I think. Another idiot.
