Mystery man - AIBU to want to know more about him?

I have been invited out by a mysterious man in the neighbourhood whom I have never met. He wants me to go with him to a couple of quite posh (by my standards!) do's. However, I know nothing about him - what he looks like, how old he is or where he lives. All I have is his name and his phone number. I'd like to say yes, but am wary of committing myself to a total stranger.

I feel I need to know more about him first, but don't want to keep him hanging on waiting for a reply. What would you do??

Supernana hits the nail on the head again! As I said earlier, if you handle this carefully, it's no more dangerous than meeting online, exchanging a few emails then phonecalls and meeting up for a coffee in a safe public place. I've done it several times, didn't meet Mr Right but had absolutely no unpleasant or worrying experiences. I agree with Super though -you have to kiss a few frogs before you get the prince.

Crimson that's a good plan but count me out! The last creep I met, I married, so my creepometer obviously doesn't work! angry blushgrin

Faye Fri 30-Dec-11 22:26:43

nanachrissy I like the thought of a creepometer, I could have used one of those in the past. sad

You must know this person .. by sight anyway - so you have nothing to lose by just asking him to send you a photo from his phone - and pray to god he is dressed on the photo - if not I would reckon you may be best steering well clear lol x let us know x

helshea - I was thinking of doing just that, but the thought of him sending a photo of himself in his birthday suit just didn't appeal, somehow.(Or at least not at this stage!) Or worse, a photo as nature intended but without the face!!grin

helshea Sat 31-Dec-11 15:02:14

Well you may or may not recognise him from his picture then wink

I have been following this thread and wondering what would happen, am now almost feeling sory for the man in question as he may somehow find out we are all dying to see his bare bits in all their glory (or not) and if he does the result probably won't be very glorious

Some men have odd ideas about how to attract a woman - several replied to my Lonely Hearts ads with just a photo of their best feature!

nanarosie Sat 31-Dec-11 22:27:56

Greatnan crumbs!! smile

greatnan see that is what I have always said about men they have delusions of grandure, they have the idea ladies of a certain age are desperate and nothing could be further than the truth.grin

You can usually work it out yourself...if they have big feet they are usually not well endowed. Or so I have been told. wink

glammanana Sun 01-Jan-12 01:14:53

Faye they need big feet to fit them into their big mouth's,smile being a bit personal to night aren't we girls may be the wine I had at bikers earlier.

Okey dokey...we appear to be on the subject of whether or not certain men believe we females are impressed by SIZE...! wink
Now for a true story about an encounter with a so-called gent, a member of Dateline. We arranged to meet in a vast car park on the edge of a massive city. Having driven some considerable distance, I parked my wee Mitsubishi Colt [complete with rust, troublesome exhaust and awful low on fuel] I was summoned by flashing headlights and an obnoxious car horn [not unlike a stag in the rutting season.] A male of monumental stature waved to me from a colossal car with a dashboard resembling a jumbo jet...over-the-top and frankly, mesmerising shock.
Did my escort for the evening ask about my journey or state of health? No! Did he remove his considerable bulk from his vehicle and shake my hand? No!
Did he notice that I was wearing my best frock? No!
He leaned nonchalantly out of the window and, gazing adoringly around the car's sumptuous interior murmured..."Well, what do you think of this?"
I tried to smile but managed a hmm which failed to impress. I guess that was the beginning of the end and a complete waste of my time, energy and fuel.

Another example of a man compensating for other diminutive features with his massive car!

greenmossgiel Sun 01-Jan-12 13:26:13

Crikey, supernana! I didn't read your post properly and didn't pick up that he was showing you the interior of his car....I thought he was showing you one of the other features he owned...! blush

supernana Sun 01-Jan-12 13:41:38

greenmossgiel Very loud giggles...wink

glassortwo Sun 01-Jan-12 13:51:30

green grin his ...nose....... possibly grin

supernana Sun 01-Jan-12 14:19:51

glass you are a tike!
When I declined to sit -on- in his pride and joy ["for a little cuddle"] I was called a country bumpkin...the 60 mile drive home was a doddle thereafter, except for the fact that I had very little cash with which to fill the tank. Never mind, every experience, no matter how dastardly, teaches us a valuable lesson...

supernana Sun 01-Jan-12 14:21:10

PS the "on" was meant to be crossed through blush

greenmossgiel Sun 01-Jan-12 15:30:11

supernana.....! winkgrin

JessM Sun 01-Jan-12 15:56:20

Lot of frogs out there supernana ! And strangely, kissing them does not effect a transformation into prince or anything like... That darn fairy tale has a lot to answer for.

I can't beleive this thread is still doing the rounds! Anyone else like to hear more hilarious dating experiences?

Faye Mon 02-Jan-12 03:16:39

Faye What pops out as a quick reply sometimes surprises us - lots of subconscious connections going on in there.

Did it myself there - surprised at what popped out!!
