Are we elderly or middleaged.

At 67 years old with 2 grandchildren I consider myself middleaged. I still work 2 afternoons a week and lead a healthy busy life. I have a lot more energy then people younger then me. My son and his wife say I'm elderly and treat me as if I'm a doddering old fool. I've learned a lot of new skills since I turned 60, travel solo on buses and trains. Yet if I go out with them, they almost instruct me onto how to put one foot in front of another. I almost feel as as if I don't count for much .My daughter however, doesn't treat me like this at all thank goodness and finds their actions really annoying.

Well bagitha I am long way off that hopefully. Just been for a 30 minute run to try to stave off the inevitable.
I am confused because there is this jokey thread running - while on the "cut out of our lives" thread, hardly a soul has confirmed that they would write to their MP. There is legislation coming up to give children the right to maintain contact with their parents. If there is going to be any legislation to help maintain contact with grandparents it will be part of this bill or probably never happen. Now is the time to show solidarity with those grandparents and grandchildren.

So i feel that you'all are joking about political action while passing up the opportunity to do a little something that might help.

Maybe you have not read the thread. I don't go there often. it is too painful.
Anyway I need to put my money where my mouth is and write to my MP.

Ah have found you all so this is where the march starts from , you can count me in but can I ask ... what are we marching for whatever it is I want some! (Note to self, if its for romantic/ handsome/ funny, men I must tart myself up a bit )
Will we be having"comfort stops " along the way, the bladder is not what it used to be .what with having 3 babies and then this cold weather !!!!!!!!!! Oh shouldn't had thought of that I now need to dash , will be back later with a banner and some paints , but what do I put on it ?hmm

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 13:45:07

I only drink tea when I'm pregnant. The rest of the time it's coffee!

absentgrana Fri 03-Feb-12 13:42:59

In that case jeni I think you should all be sent to bed without any tea.

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 13:41:12

Absent. Bible:- unless ye become as little children.smile

absentgrana Fri 03-Feb-12 13:37:26

Are we elderly or middle aged – or have some of us regressed to second childhood? Just asking. hmm

bagitha Fri 03-Feb-12 13:34:24

Careful, jess! Being confused by this thread could be a sign of the dreaded elderliness! wink

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 13:24:57

Why? We are all rational logical people. What is there to be confused about?grin

JessM Fri 03-Feb-12 13:20:55

I am confused by this thread.

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 13:19:56

Yeah we'd make the headlines allright
" old hags invade PM's domain?"
Or
"nutty Nannys need nursing homes"

Annobel Fri 03-Feb-12 13:14:52

'Kettled Grannies' - sounds like a great headline, doesn't it?

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 13:05:14

Downing street!
The coppers are bound to let a crowd of charming old dears in!(baggy with medusa hair, jing with purple butterflies on unmentionable parts, chariot with, {how many}horses, all of us in white dresses, handcuffs, chains, thermal undies) we're obviously sweet and harmlessgrin

GoldenGran Fri 03-Feb-12 12:24:15

I'll take the bus and meet you there, where will you be?

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 11:42:37

Yes pleasegrin

kittylester Fri 03-Feb-12 11:35:53

Do you all mind if I am with you in spirit but stay at home? I am feeling a bit weird about new modes of transport at the moment. I'll put the kettle on for a nice warm cuppa when you get back - would you like a splash of something in it? wink

bagitha Fri 03-Feb-12 11:30:21

I'll bring my Kelly Kettle and then we can have hot drinks whenever we want.

jeni Fri 03-Feb-12 11:11:21

Look forward to seeing you all. Now make sure you've all been to the toilet and washed your hands before you come. The facilities on tardis are limited and you all know the effect the cold has on your bladders!grin

Carol Fri 03-Feb-12 09:22:52

I would like a lift in the tardis, please? I've got the last batch of placards, another pair of handcuffs and a bike chain, and a flask of my home made soup. I'm going to put on extra thermals and socks, as it's rather parky out there today. I'm bringing my dog if you don't mind - I've been warming my hands up on her this morning, and she'll come in very handy if anyone starts feeling the cold tonight.

Oldgreymare Fri 03-Feb-12 09:02:39

Oh! I've found it! Can I come too, please. Please send the tardis round my way, too cold to hitch a lift on a broomstick.
I'll bring a flask with hot toddy in to warm us up.

gracesmum Fri 03-Feb-12 09:01:06

I am reminded -and not insulted because it made me smile- of a Matt cartoon a couple of years ago about a Pensioners' Protest, where the placards read:

"Why are we here?"
"What do we want?"
"When do we want it?"
