Are we elderly or middleaged.

At 67 years old with 2 grandchildren I consider myself middleaged. I still work 2 afternoons a week and lead a healthy busy life. I have a lot more energy then people younger then me. My son and his wife say I'm elderly and treat me as if I'm a doddering old fool. I've learned a lot of new skills since I turned 60, travel solo on buses and trains. Yet if I go out with them, they almost instruct me onto how to put one foot in front of another. I almost feel as as if I don't count for much .My daughter however, doesn't treat me like this at all thank goodness and finds their actions really annoying.

Well girls I hope you all enjoy your day out marching and flying all over the Country in your flying machines,I am staying home as I have decided that I am going to hibinate until the spring, but I will open a bottle of Champgane anytime and raise a glass. Its a wee bit drafty on my broomstick even though it is a suped up 4 x 4 2012 GT model.

Carol Thu 02-Feb-12 21:57:37

Here's another batch of placards:

'Children and grandparents unite - sound your horn if you agree!'

That should liven things up!

glassortwo Thu 02-Feb-12 21:54:41

I nearly missed it.................. Will you call around by Newcastle butter with the chariot to collect me, I have to drop OG off for a black tie do (cheek of it been away all week and goes out without me grin )

jeni Thu 02-Feb-12 20:37:05

Ps. Don't forget the champagne (and vodka ) for the riot party in Hyde park.

jeni Thu 02-Feb-12 20:34:44

Tomorrow then . Start at 7pm.
Chariots ready, blades sharpened! Champagne corks ready to pop, aimed at any bankers or politicians within range!
White dresses over thermals.
Insulated handcuffs and chains (kinky?)
Baggy in plaits
Jing in ? Purple butterflies?
Oh! Presumably on green foliage, so that's ok.
Tardis armed with custard pies
Ladies! Are we all ready to march for (what was it carol? Having a senior moment. ) oh yes.
Free money for all oaps.
March. March. Etc!

bagitha Thu 02-Feb-12 19:45:41

Are we having champagne first to warm us up? I've got my tea towel ready – to catch the cork if it's a bit energetic; wouldn't do to blind someone before we get going.

jeni Thu 02-Feb-12 18:18:57

Right Baggie when are we-rioting-- marching for freedom?
Just heard it'd going tobe parky this weekend. Marching will keep us warm, and help the weight loss!

Butternut Thu 02-Feb-12 17:59:56

No classics at my dismal Secondary Modern - I just read a lot! grin

jeni Thu 02-Feb-12 17:53:05

Medusa, Pegasus, by Jove, the wonders of classical educations!

I am a member of - [www.thegodmothers.org.uk] - who hassle the UN for money to promote Womens' Rights across the world.

Butternut Thu 02-Feb-12 17:35:56

The chariot can fly, too - just like the tardis - as all horses are descendants of Pegasus..........

Hot Soup available, and yes please super - any champagne welcome. Hope bagitha's around to open one............. now? The sun has departed.....!

I shall be rallying for government funding for Jess's National Feminist Organisation.grin

Carol Thu 02-Feb-12 16:01:15

Here are the rest of the placards. I have to go and help with baby granddaughters now as daddy has gone on a jaunt work trip to London and is staying overnight (he wants a good night's sleep - we have rumbled him, haven't we girls?).

If the march starts whilst I am gone, please make sure a few strategic custard pies hit the spot, especially for Clegg, Cameron, Osborn and any passing bankers.

Here's my handcuffs in case anyone manages to get as far as the Downing Street railings. I'll be cheering you on from afar! grin

Carol Thu 02-Feb-12 15:18:17

Right on it jeni. Here's a dozen to be going on with......

jeni Thu 02-Feb-12 14:52:35

Brilliant. Right carol, now make one for every member before the rally on ------?

Carol Thu 02-Feb-12 14:44:15

Ah! Now I've got it..........
The placard should say:

'What do YOU need? Wise Women!
When do you need it? NOW!

and on the other side....

'Stand back and watch US sort the Budget out!'

With the Gransnet logo, of course!

JessM Thu 02-Feb-12 14:38:39

Kind of begs the question - one that i wonder about, which is why there is no national feminist organisation in this country, lobbying for issues that concern women. Who, in the 1970s, would have thought it?

Ariadne Thu 02-Feb-12 14:32:10

Are we going to chain ourselves to any railings? Bit cold for that, maybe. Will belt up M2 on my Hogwarts broomstick, can I pick anyone up on the way?

Carol Thu 02-Feb-12 14:16:43

'What do we Want? Grey Power!'....no, that's not quite right either....couldn't do without the highlights! More work needed.....

jeni Thu 02-Feb-12 13:49:17

Back to work. See you with the fireworks when I get home!

Carol Thu 02-Feb-12 13:29:19

I have to go off to help with babies at 4.30 pm, but will help with placards meanwhile.

'What do we Want? More .....errrr..'
When do we Want it? erm...could you drop it off at a time to suit you, please?'

....think that needs working on....!
