As a single person [I do have a grandniece who is a cutey pie ]I don't like the word Gransnet as feel it is not all encompassing & we should be respected for our individauality as people not to focus on our age often causing the most concern. I suppose this is nit picking but I still feel mentally I am in my 30s ??!! Silver surfer is more fun.

petallus, ana, wink Quite. I haven't forgotten. I had masses more energy when I was younger. I miss it.

What annoys me is that when I was a teenager they had only just been invented so we didn't make the most of it! Also when I started work, the bosses were all in their late 50s or older. When I got to that age, the bosses were in their 40s and I was old enough to retire. confused

Like being able to dance through the pain barrier. Couldn't do that now.

I could till a few years ago though – less than a decade. Not bad. grin

Kitty watch out, I'm growing my hair so that I can go back to my cottage loaf!

coo-ee Bags! I liked your song. smile

gillybob Fri 18-Jan-13 12:13:56

Not sure what song you are talking about Bags ?

The sad thing is I wasn't young when I was young (if you get what I mean). At 18 , when my friends were going out to clubs and parties I was working my socks off and a single parent.

I have more freedom now than I did then

I still have no freedom what with parents, grandma, grandchildren..... oh dear.

I've kept extensive detailed diaries for the last 50 years.

Sometimes I go back and read stuff from early days and I can't believe how young I sound and some of the things I did, but which i have since forgotten about until being reminded by the diary, well I don't know whether to laugh or cringe.

But that's just me.

Nelliemoser Fri 18-Jan-13 12:38:42

So if the media or others want to address the specific interests of older persons who are internet savvy how would you like that Demographic group to be described?

gillybob Fri 18-Jan-13 12:42:46

I'm wondering why OP was attracted by the name Gransnet in the first place.

Marelli Fri 18-Jan-13 13:10:47

65 now. I'm 63 shortly and never really think about how old I am - in fact sometimes I forget, because it really doesn't matter! My hair is white and I have wrinkles - and that doesn't matter either. I'd look very odd at 63 if I didn't have wrinkles (and a few whiskers hmm)! When I look at women my age who pay a fortune for different cosmetics etc, I don't think they look any better or worse than me. I
I don't feel I'm young at heart - I'm just me! smile

Marelli Fri 18-Jan-13 13:12:12

The 65 was to say how many posts there had been - I nattered on so much about how I didn't care, that another 5 sneaked up on me! grin

gillybob Fri 18-Jan-13 13:14:37

They have a habit of doing that don't theyMarelli ?
