Getting your directoire gusset in a twist

I've been absent from the forum for a few months - family problems. On my return, I couldn't help but notice that the same refrain is going the rounds - people are being horrible to me or to others, people are pm ing, there are cliques and bullies, JO8 is now in her umpteenth incarnation - how boring it all is and how repetitive.

Just for the record, I've really enjoyed GN. When I asked for ideas on how to entertain my grandson cheaply, I was inundated with constructive suggestions. I love greatnan's jokes which have cheered up many a miserable morning. I am always amazed and in awe of how brainy and well informed some members such as Bags are. Jeni always has something sensible and interesting to say. I enjoy reading the views of people who hold very different opnions to me.

I suppose i just want to say - get over yourselves, some people. It's an internet chat forum. 15 years ago, no such beast existed, so make the most of it. It's wonderful that we can all exchange views. Isn't this something to be celebrated?

What has my forum name got to do with anything? confused Why would that bother anyone? #little thingshmm

vegasmags Sun 10-Feb-13 23:10:10

Not bothered at all, chuck

As I said, no point in getting your gusset in a twist!

Good to hear from you vegasmags. Completely agree with you smile

I haven't got my drawers on. #inbed

A timely post, vegasmags! Thanks. Hope everything is OK with you now.

I don't mind when j0 throws a few spanners into a conversation - it makes me feel better about jumping in big feet first. And it's good to see other people's opinions expressed honestly - especially when they all disagree - gives a more rounded view of the world.

Sel Mon 11-Feb-13 09:30:41

It is what it is - take it or leave it - I was on Compuserve over 15 years ago, the same thing but much broader and US dominated. Personally I love Jo's posts, love the way she pricks a lot of pompous bubbles.

Gally Mon 11-Feb-13 09:57:11

sel so true! Life's too short for all the ridiculous recent carrying-ons. Lighten up everyone (she whispers from underneath the duvet) wink

annodomini Mon 11-Feb-13 10:10:50

Common sense, vegasmags. Thanks - although a bit of nonsense is good as long as it's good-natured nonsense. smile

Ana Mon 11-Feb-13 10:17:48

Agree absolutely, Sel!

Ariadne Mon 11-Feb-13 10:22:28

So right, Sel!

Marelli Mon 11-Feb-13 13:19:15

Yes - I agree with both vegasmags and Sel....with a little peppering of jingle, of course smile!

janthea Mon 11-Feb-13 13:23:42

vegasmags I said something very similar on another thread recently. Totally agree with you.

gracesmum Mon 11-Feb-13 13:26:08

Point made, vegasmags, sel, et al, point taken. Let's not let this turn into one of those threads about threads about threads............................[losingwilltolive] emoticon

soop Mon 11-Feb-13 13:59:15

And I also wholeheartedly agree with Sel...now I really must get down to the housework. grin

Greatnan Mon 11-Feb-13 14:51:32

I am with you, Veg - the problems arise when people insist on dragging up old arguments, with threads headed 'What has happened to Gransnet', which can only be intended to sew dissension. For goodness sake, let us all move on and be happy (I am very happy - I fly to Singapore tomorrow night, en route for NZ and six weeks with my wonderful family. sunshine!

gracesmum Mon 11-Feb-13 14:56:04

So are we moving on or is this to be another thread like that?
