The family and legal representatives of the unarmed 17 year old black 17 year old killed by a white supremacist have appealed for calm and echoed the worlds of The Reverent Martin Luther King, Our time for equal justice will come. His and his families words.
WHEN. ( my words). The Metropolitan Police show exactly the same racist approach. WHY.
Please dont tell me juries hear all the evidence and decide on the facts. Out of 25 years a an officer of the court and having worked in prisons I guarantee white juries and the police condemn black people because they are black. WHY. When we have scapegoated every race, class ,creed that is different to our own who do we blame for the problems we face, OURSELVES, heaven forfend, surely we have have got it 100% right, or, hmmm, have we?

See jingl's post of 14.02.43, gracesmum.

J08 am I correct in thinking your intended reference was to :

"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

Not a lot to do with moats then.

grin It's the heat! But I'm sure you get my drift. smile

I should have gone with "plank"

gracesmum Thu 18-Jul-13 19:10:27

Thanks Ana hadn't spotted it was "blued" - sorry for misunderstanding. Still don't like being accused of "oh so holy moral outrage" though. It seems when it comes to expressing an opinion on issues of principle, you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.confused

gracesmum yes. Strangely enough, I know exactly what I was talking about. I was referring to the preachy tone of the last few posts on this thread. (Before I referred to a previous Gransnet thread)

Does it really make you feel superior to pick me up on a simple spelling error? hmm

Got it now Gm?

mmmmm. Methinks the media have milked this and manipulated the situation for their own ends. As much as any loss of life is regrettable I have had the feeling that we have not been told the full story here. Why is it the reports claim the victim was a 17 year old but photographs of him show a boy of 10 or so. It may be just me but something is just not adding up to me and is reminiscent of the UK's 'Daily Mail' and its twisting of stories to incite extreme reaction. As I said very sad but a product of a sick society perhaps. I stand to be corrected but would like to know the real truth rather than that presented for public consumption by media whose sole purpose is sensationalism to create profit.

So where do you live, ps?

Nonu Wed 31-Jul-13 22:40:51

Curios as to why you are contributing to this thread , a fortnight on P.S??

ps Sun 04-Aug-13 14:00:05

Ana / Nonu I lcurrently live in the North West of England and apologies but I have only just found this thread but had my doubts from the time the story broke. I may be wrong of course, perhaps I am just cynical and it is after all only my humble opinion but has anyone actually seen a current photograph of the victim in this crime - not that it matters but it may prove a point albeit an undefencible one.

Oh I see - when you mentioned 'the UK's Daily Mail' I assumed you lived in another country.

There are plenty of photos of Trayvon Martin on the internet. He looks like a young lad of 17 to me.
