Sorry to hear you didn't get your planed visit Celebgran. Things that wouldn't have upset us before all this, now do! I know. I went to a friends exhibition today, but also there were lots of lovely children's things to buy for Xmas. There was a beautiful wooden train with my GS's name on it; Jack, I would have loved to have bought it for him, and a beautiful pink 'treasures' box for Laila (you get her name put on). Father Christmas was there, train rides through wonderland, on, and on, I was given lots of leaflets "for your GC" I had to leave in the end, as I was choking-up

Like your D.i.l my s.i.l is a charmer, unfortunately only my ND and I have seen his dark side (well, and my D, his wife) Your S doesn't sound happy, I would take that as a good sign for you, maybe that door is opening to let you back in!
I was very depressed yesterday, nearly cried when a friend said, "you never know, you may get a surprise knock on the door" I said "no, that won't happen", I had briefly mentioned not seeing my GC because another friend with us was talking about how she was on FB (few years back) and got a message saying "I think I'm your GD", turned out it was her son's D that he had when he was 18yrs and had lost contact with when she was quite young, she sees her GD a lot now, but against her S wishes as his now wife is jealous. Because she re-connected with her GD, she is now not allowed in her S house (so few yrs of this), she said "she's my GD!!" her S wont/cant see his D, cos of his wife, GD very upset!
My ND coming round in about 15mins, owing to my being a bit depressed, she went shopping near her work lunch time, instead of her planned trip to Lakeside after, she does normally come over on a Friday, anyway it would have been an awful crush at Lakeside for her, with the 'Black Friday shopping'!!
Sorry (yes another sorry) to hear you don't see much of your GS Carolann, mine you at 17yrs they are really into doing their own thing aren't they. Exactly the reason why I want to re-connect with my GC whilst their small and want to be with their nannie (+granddads).

the problem with text messages, they can seem rather impersonal at times.

A friend of ours saw our s the other day. Our s always avoids eye contact or any kind of contact for that matter, but was unable to avoid him. He said hello and asked how he was doing. Said our s looked really miserable and replies 'how do you think' - what a strange thing to say .

Oh I am sorry Celebgran that your treat today was cancelled, not surprised you felt a little tearful. Now I hope you were sensible and kept all the ; indulge it will help cheer you up.

It really is true about the large portions. Wish I'd taken a pic of the rice and was able to send it you, you wouldn't have believed it. Hubby teased me about it until we went to bed. Was tempted to toss him in to the enormous wheelie bin along with the rest of the rice .

Bad night last night. Kept waking up in between really weird dreams. It's the first bad night I've had since we got here. Not the first bad dreams though. Still more than a week before we go home but woke up with that heavy feeling in my stomach wondering what it will be like when we return. Of course I know what it'll be like, hence that heavy sinking feeling .

Holidays are a real tonic like you say Yogagirl you can't believe how much better they make you feel. Weather forecast was right. For one day and one day only, very, very cool.

Clear blue sky and beautiful [sun] so you don't realise until you open the door that it's not as warm as it should be. Looks can be so deceptive. My d.i.l. appears normal so you've no idea how cold she really is [hmmm] Pool is heated so will still go for a swim.

Smileless what are you like. I am bad at direction too though, I remember when I lived in Africa, we went to a revolving restaurant, so after going to the loo, our table was nowhere to be seen . Good for you, having a laugh with your football pitch size rice portion, thats the USA for you! It does make you feel better being away, when I first went away after all the bad stuff, I didn't think I'd feel good at all, but I really did, till I got on the plane coming home, then it all hit me again

I know you'll all be asleep now, and I hope that includes you Yogagirl but thought I'd share some silliness with you all and hopefully you'll start your Thursday with a giggle.

Ordered a chinese take away to be delivered as we couldn't be bothered to go out. Hubby asked me to 'phone it through as they some times have trouble understanding him - join the club . I ordered two half portions of rice and when it came they were enormous.

Hubby up turned the carton and the entire contents landed on to his plate, in almost a solid form. He said I'd ordered enough rice to cover a foot ball pitch and has been making me laugh about it for the last hour.

It's so good to have a laugh and such a relief to have put all these miles between us and our nasty S and his wife, even temporarily. Can't last forever of course but hopefully with fully charged batteries on my return I'll be able to cope a little bit better with all the nastiness.

You're more than welcome to some Yogagirl but the weather here not as good as I'd hoped. The forecast is sunny for tomorrow but cool, very cool mid 60's if we're lucky. Should start to warm up again on Friday; hope so but am getting a little paranoid and wondering if our dark cloud has decided to come over here instead of staying back in the UK!

Poor hubby is in a bit of a dilemma. The big kid - that's me by the way doesn't think one trip to the Magic Kingdom will be enough so really, really wants to go twice. Now hubby finds once per holiday more than enough. Solution, drop me off and I'll go round on my own for a few hours and then he can pick me up. Dilemma - will he ever see me again.

I have no sense of direction - seriously. It has been known for me to go to the ladies when we've been out for a meal, and because I've not exited from the door I entered, get lost!

When we went back out to the car after lunch today, I was standing there with my hand impatiently on the door handle wondering why it was taking him so long to unlock the passengers side when I suddenly realised I was standing by the wrong car .

If in a few days you suddenly stop hearing from me, you'll know he risked it and hasn't seen me since.

Ah! Celebgran, firstly well done in writing the letter to your niece, it's early days yet, you may get a reply, so don't give up hope. As we've said on here, this bad situation seems to spread like the plague and effects everyone in the family.

Got up an hour ago to a lovely blue sky. One hour later the wind is blowing, very hard and it is raining, also very hard. Yes ladies I am still in Florida and watching another tropical storm! should blow over in a couple of hours.

You're right that we gravitate to people who are having sim. problems Yogagirl and they to us. May be we have an invisible sign on our fore heads that only fellow sufferers can see . Every one we know is very nice and always ask us how we're doing, but you just know that a few are asking to be polite and just want you to reply that you're OK. They don't want any up date on the heart ache. Still it's good of them to ask.

Isn't it infuriating Celebgran when a pleasant and friendly email or text goes unanswered. It makes me so angry when it happens to me my imagination goes in to auto drive, and there's every possibility that there is a simple explanation to the lack of response. You're right to leave it for now, but it's so hard isn't it.

Enjoy little Danika. Close your eyes when you give her a hug and think of your own gc. Squeeze her extra tightly and that one can be from me to my darling gs.

Yes Smileless your GS is missing all that lovely splashing around in your pool, he prob would have made good friends with the little girls next door too. I think the same about, when they grow, what will they think. My little Laila is no blood relation to her mum's (my D) husband and family, her real and devoted nannie and auntie living just round the corner, 'crying' for her and her brother every day, so sad, and I'm sure she will be very sad when she fines out later. Those cocktails sound yummy, even with the storms,Florida is lovely, I remember Africa (when I lived there) the storms were fantastic to watch!
Nice to hear you had a lovely lunch out with your new friend Celebgran, you gravitate to people in similar situ. my friend was left by her partner of 3yrs, she thought they were to wed. so she's very upset. We have both agreed its ok to burn each others ears off about our situations, as we know others are prob bit bored with our stories now, so we are good support for each other. It's good to have a friend like that, to off load on and they don't mind. Enjoy your time with your brothers GC, keep your situ. out of your mind when they visit and you will enjoy the little one.

Storm blew over quite quickly Celebgran so we went out for the day to Universal Studios. Went on my fav. ride E.T. and hubby bought me E.T. number 5. You see I'm really just a big kid at heart .

I had busy busy day acquacise then met my friend Christine for lunch have become lady who lunches, bless her she wanted treat me as thank you for my support (sadly her partner left her after 30 years quite recently I would not let her she can't afford it but did let her treat me to yummy hot choc!

Am tired so feel bit down now stupid.

I met Christine through my oldest friend and now find she is quizzing her about how often we see each other and contact each other! Omg talk about possessive!

Shame as we had lovely time yesterday.

There is a young family staying next door at the moment. Two little girls, one 4 and the other 2. They were splashing around in the pool yesterday; laughing and screaming. Our little gs would have loved it here, I just know he would have. They are depriving him, not just us. I wonder what he will think, if things don't change, when he is older and realises what his parents did.

I had a lovely lunch with my sister, bought too much, but I don't like going shopping any more, so first time for ages, got some nice Xmas gifts, and for my S, in the hope I'll still see him Xmas. Its my D and s.i.l 2nd ann. today!! I always wonder if anything will happen on special occasions, with the booz flowing!

It's my pleasure Celebgran to give kind words to a kind lady such as your self. So pleased you've had a nice day and were able to relax and that your friendship with your d's god parents has remained. It would have been upsetting when your D wrote, asking her godmother, your friend to contact her.

I find it very upsetting when I know my m.i.l. has seen our S and gs. Doesn't happen very often and I guess I shouldn't be so mean spirited, but it's difficult trying to ignore the elephant in the room when she's been visited by said elephant. Hope that makes sense.

Had lovely Toby lunch with my oldest friend daughters godmother cut out of their lives also of course.

For once felt relaxed and was lovely time, went back to hers for good old natter coffees and matchmakers just to be sociable !
It has put strain on our friendship as they were extremely close to Victoria our daughter but fortunately we still very good friends.
At first even tho s I law rang and cut them put Victoria would still sent the. Xmas and birthday cards that has dwindled now but it was upsetting for us and she wrote to her randomly a year ago but asking her godmother to write back but then nothing. Very strange.

So jars of mincemeat aren't the only thing we have in common Celebgran I too find it difficult to keep my mouth shut my tongue can be a bit of a lethal weapon but only under extreme provocation. Your oh knows you are only concerned about his welfare, and that will be only one of the things he loves about you.

Talking about births again, my D was born within 15mins of my waters braking!! but really painful, she was just 6lbs, I went into shock the next afternoon (she was born at about 2am) but again I was on my own and just got through it, so frightening. My D doesn't like me telling anyone this, but she was born on the toilet, didn't go down, I sort of pulled her up onto my tummy, my ND now says " bet you wish you'd let her drop down the toilet now"
I had a lovely lunch out yesterday, one of my friends B/day, we had champagne stayed in the restaurant from 2-7

Hello Goose I have only been on this forum for a couple of months so haven't seen a post from you before. Being able to pour my own heart out here has been a life line. I hope that doing so has helped, if only a little. to help you along. Last Christmas was a terrible time for us, and although this year will be a little bit easier, I know it wont be easy. Wasn't it lovely when we could enjoy all those weeks of festive build up?

I buy the occasional gift for my gs. to put in a memory box for him, together with poems I began to write before he was born. I got two 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' books today. One to leave on the door step and one for his box in case he doesn't receive his, for his second Christmas.

Being so young, the book wont really mean anything to him but it will to my S. He'll know what it is before he opens it. You see my bro. bought it for my eldest son's 1st Christmas (he still has it), and I read it to them at bed time, every Christmas Eve for years. I'm going to write the same message in the front of both copies. "Nanna ..... used to read this to your daddy and Uncle .... every Christmas Eve when they were little boys. I hope daddy will do the same for you".

You are right Kiora loving does sometimes have a terrible price. I no longer know if I believe in the old adage that it is better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all.

I'm glad Celebgran that I'm not the only one with a jar of mince meat in the cupboard left over from last year. Your too honest. You could have just left me to admire your efficiency . Hubby bought himself some fake ring piercings. Put two on his nose, three on his top lip, one on each of his nostrils and two on each ear. Interrupted one of the best times of my day - talking to my gransnet buddies - to get me to take a photo so he can put it on FB. Looks quite good, if you're in to that sort of thing which usually I'm not.

Try not to worry about your oh Celebgran. Going to work probably helps to keep his mind of things for a few hours. Relax, have a on me.
