As the trial continues I notice that every photo I see of Rolf going into court his wife is grinning widely and Rolf appears to be supported physically by his family.

Whatever the truth is I wish his wife didn't look as if they were going to a party. Also Rolf has always been quite sprightly, I wonder if his new demeanour is being put on.

What do you think ?

Since when has children interrupting a serious conversation with look-at-me-I-can-be-rude sniggering and getting a clip round the ear and then ignored been an ARGUMENT? Go home, Johnny and join Muzzy and Kizzy (are they all you?) playing with your lego bricks.

Why so anxious to concentrate on a small irrelevant kerfuffle in an otherwise reasoned and thoughtful thread johnnycash? confused

Come to think of it, I am not that interested in the answer anyway. Off out now.

Lets return to what we were saying before the infant class were let out.

It would be very difficult to continue to treat someone just the same if they had committed such an act. I hope that I would recognise that they were in need of the right support and treatment, and that there was a chance that they would recover, but I could never relax while they were around children or vulnerable people, in fear that the temptation would be too much for them.

I agree with you, Elegran. Successfully treated sex offenders (and there are many) will remove themselves from the company of children if they find themselves alone with them. They will plan for how they will deal with any possible situation (their self-regulation or relapse prevention plan) and they will declare their past so people can make informed decisions about being friendly or making relationships with them.

Elegran Thu 03-Jul-14 10:41:03

No, Johnny, I am not plain rude, I am reacting as a mother and grandmother does when a child is rude to ME and my friends. Kizzy was plain rude in the middle of other people talking about children being abused. It was a deliberate attempt to spoil the conversation. Now you appear (and Muzzy) to praise kizzy's rudeness.

Now, do you want to talk about how Rolf Harris used his fame to fuck little children, or do you want to be banned again?

Remind me when the bottom stream year 11s were let out

Elegran Thu 03-Jul-14 10:57:07

So you are on here to talk to us about Rolf Harris, not about Kizzy's rudeness? Then what DO you think about him? Saying you don't agree with someone is not really enough, you need to say what YOU think or it is not a conversation.

If he were your Dad, could YOU live with him just the same after he had done this? Your view would be interesting to hear.

Elegran Thu 03-Jul-14 10:58:09

Ah. I see that Johnny has left us!

Agus Thu 03-Jul-14 10:58:59

What drugs are you on? Brilliant! grin grin

I don't know if that was supposed to insult or shock us, as if, but I couldn't stop laughing.

GillT57 Thu 03-Jul-14 10:59:00

Johnnycash, you may be taken more seriously if and when you ever learn to spell and punctuate properly. Meanwhile, please let the grown ups get on with their conversation. Rosequartz I agree, it would be hard to love the person and hate the crime, if the person you loved was a fake and a fraud and not what you thought they were, what a betrayal.

DH and I have been discussing this case and the others featuring historic sexual assaults. The discussion widened out, as they usually do, when I said that a jury's guilty verdict does not mean an accused is guilty nor does a not-guilty verdict mean that he is innocent. DH thinks that if the jury say someone is guilty then he is and vice-versa. I think that is simplistic. What about all the miscarriages of justice?

I am just thankful we no longer have the death penalty.

whenim64 Thu 03-Jul-14 11:28:36

You've got to laugh, but I imagine the report button is being frantically pressed. grin Thanks to numptys like this, I had a steady job and it gave me a great pension! grin

whenim64 Thu 03-Jul-14 11:29:33

That wasn't addressed to you Gaga smile

Elegran Thu 03-Jul-14 11:32:44

Everyone is saying exactly the same as you though. Everyone is saying that people who abuse children are wicked and will try to twist things so that they can get to children or young people again. They are put in jail for their sentence, then they come out and they are back in public. I have heard that decent people in prison hate the paedos and they can expect to be attacked while they in there.

But when they come out, people like whenin keep in contact with them to at least TRY to keep them from re-offending. Do you think they should just be left to get on with it, wioth no-one even trying? Do you think they should be in prison for the rest of their lives? Who would guard them? Who would protect young prisoners who came into contact with them?

Gagagran Thu 03-Jul-14 11:33:05

That's OK when. Thanks for the reassurance though! smile

Elegran Thu 03-Jul-14 11:34:22

Sorry, I thought poppys would be here long enough to read one answer!

Ana Thu 03-Jul-14 11:37:12

It's a waste of time replying to them, Elegran, as everyone seems to be in 'report' default mode today!

In my earlier post I wrote about "reformed " sex offenders "rarely are they given a chance to live in the outside world again".
This was because it was difficult to find a place for them to live where they wouldn't be attacked/ persecuted.
This was in the USA, Whenim might have found things different.
