to think that only old people should go to areas where there is nudity?

a bit of a long-winded question, I know.
The reason I ask is that my dh and I were recently in a spa in Germany that had a 'no clothes' policy. I have no problem with that, even though I'm getting on and am overweight, partly because I know I'll never see anyone else there again.
I also find it interesting to see how people's bodies age, especially women in my age range.
What I don't like seeing a young women with beautiful bodies. As I write this, I know how weird it sounds, but I just think that they shouldn't be on view to every Tom Dick and Harry.
I wasn't spending all my time looking at people (I didn't have my glasses on, so I couldn't see much), it just felt wrong.

You use the weired. Your right there.

petra Mon 22-Sep-14 15:35:48

I meant you, not the lovely young women.

I don't see the difference whether it is old or young people. I'm not a nudist myself but I thought the whole point of naturism was to be free from the usual thought processes about our bodies - I would think that most of the people who attend take no notice of whether it is a young or old body. Just relax and enjoy it.

I've never been to a nudist place, but dare I say, I tend to think the opposite....only want to see young beautiful bodies, and that is not in a sexual way.

Ana Mon 22-Sep-14 16:18:53

I agree, Atqui!

Yes, if you don't like what you see, don't go. Unfortunate turn of phrase every Tom, Dick and Harry

Why would anyone dislike looking at younger bodies ? the last thing I would want to look at is an old overweight naked body be it male or female, all those bits gradually going "south" is not a pleasent sight in my opinion, I had the understanding that members did not notice the shape or appearance of other bodies when it came to nudist clubs etc.

I've been to a 'clothes optional' beach in New Zealand. My sister and I didn't strip off - it wasn't very warm - but we noticed that the only people who did disrobe were the ones we didn't specially want to see!

HollyDaze Mon 22-Sep-14 17:49:32

Some spas don't make it known that nudity is permitted - I was sitting in a sauna in some country or other (can't remember where now) and a chap came in, completely starkers and sat opposite me, in the steam room, with his legs wide open! I do not want to see that - and yes, he was fairly young but I still don't want to see it. All I could then think of was 'were the bottoms that sat where I am before I sat down clean bottoms'! Ugh, gives me the shudders.

Why would anyone dislike looking at younger bodies

Why would anyone want to look at them?

Why would anyone want to look at them?

Er...because they can be attractive?

Ana Mon 22-Sep-14 18:06:57

Perhaps I should have said 'aesthetically pleasing'!

We once had a holiday in the Aegean Greek islands, and went to Mykonos, where there was a nudist bay.
At first I refused to disrobe, but eventually felt it was me being prurient, so ventured out. I wasn't so old at the time (late 40s).
All the people there were my age or younger. There were some same sex couples too.
I thought there was definitely a sexual undercurrent.
So I don't see the point of older people going nude - I would never do it now, if it's warm enough, I would get sunburn!

Anyone can go nude at a nudist place, it's not just for older people.Nothing wrong with it, although I would never do it.

Judthepud2 Mon 22-Sep-14 20:13:42

I have no problems with nudism but wouldn't want to subject others to my ageing body as I don't like looking at it myself!! However, I do have on my bucket list to swim naked in the sun! Just not with an audience wink

Yes, YABU - I just don't get the logic of your thread title. [confused[

Glammanana, what did you mean by

"I had the understanding that members did not notice the shape or appearance of other bodies when it came to nudist clubs etc."

Aren't members the potential problem?

Elegran Mon 22-Sep-14 22:27:17

Members of nudist clubs are not supposed to notice the bodies of other nudists, but some members have minds of their own.

Granny23 Mon 22-Sep-14 23:05:31

Elegran! grin You have such a ladylike way of saying things.

grumppa Mon 22-Sep-14 23:15:09

I think Elegran and I are on the same wavelength.

Elegran Tue 23-Sep-14 08:03:59

I am not even going to mention the site of some people's brains.

Jane10 Tue 23-Sep-14 08:26:51

Moving mentally back upwards elegran! When I went to a mineral baths in Budapest it was women only day. Everyone was starkers except for a tiny pointless apron. Any aesthetic discomfort I may have suffered was mitigated by the simple expedient of removing my glasses. All I could see were varying sizes of pink blobs. Sorted!

HollyDaze Tue 23-Sep-14 11:04:18

Er...because they can be attractive?

I suppose it depends on what floats your boat.

HollyDaze Tue 23-Sep-14 11:07:10

However, I do have on my bucket list to swim naked in the sun!

You might be disappointed! I have done that and was expecting to feel all the marvellous feelings that people say you feel - it just felt the same to me to be honest. Maybe exhibitionists get something more out of it?
