Rotating clean house linen

I too have to confess to having a bedding and towel habit (no wonder we had to build an extension).

I tend to wash the bedding and put it back on the bed the same day, I do have a spare one but don't like the pattern very much. I have one set for the guest room.

I have two sets of towels and one extra set for guests.

I live in a small bungalow and needed to de-clutter as there is not much storage space and I love it. I got rid of so much stuff and let me tell you it's liberating.

Use all white sheets and pillow cases - 4 sets for our bed, king size, and 3 sets double for spare beds. 4 duvets covers - king size in shades of grey with different patterns and 3 double various colours. We only use a 4.5tog duvet all year and spplement if needed with handmade patchwork quilts.

Yes it does Wot. No problem at all. I have done it this way for years. I tuck it in at the foot, envelope the bottom corners, and let the sides hang free. The duvet is wide enough to hide the trailing sides.

After reading all these posts I have made a resolution. I am going to change all my sheets and duvet covers to white egyptian cotton.
I have sympathy with the gran who sorts her airing cupboard out , gets rid of a ton but finds it is as full afterwards.
This happens with wardrobes as well. Bin bags of stuff go to the charity shop but the wardrobe still looks full. I don't buy loads of clothes, honestly.

Does that flat sheet stay in place all night?

I use a flat top sheet under the duvet. Tuck the top inside during the day, and fold it back over the duvet at night. It is far easier to change and launder a sheet and means far less duvet cover changing (a job I detest)

I changed from cream to white duvet covers but the tops have changed to cream where the light has hit them, ???

Having read this, I'm wishing I had king sized duvets on our double bed. But, having spent a fortune at the start of last winter, on Siberian down ones, I can't justify it. Unless I gave these ones away to one of the kids.... (very tempting)

Although I'm very disorganised, all my bedding is in sets, put into the right pillowcase, and all i have to do is pull one out - job done.
Bed changing is exhausting, but it's SO nice to get into a freshly made bed! When I'm rich, I shall have someone to change my bed every day
I have no airing cupboard, but the previous owners, when they removed the hot water tank, had some shelves pur in - so I've enough space. Also, very fine quality cotton takes up as much space as a largish jumper...

I don't have a duvet. I made a patchwork quilt many years ago and I use that with sheets and blankets. I have two sets of sheets/pillow cases so one set on one set in the wash. Quilt and blankets...wash, dry back on bed. I am in process of hand piecing another quilt so in a couple of years I will have one to 'rotate'

I love buying sheets and towels. Just bought an enormous bath sheet in Debenham's sale £12.00 reduced from £30.00. My airing cupboard is a shambles and I tend to just alternate 2 sets of bedding for us, guest beds too.

I've got a single duvet on my double bed as I sleep alone. I use a single as its easier to change often. I lay a double bedspread over it though. I've got double duvets but struggle to put them on and I always sleep on one side of the bed (not the middle!)

I emptied my airing cupboard earlier this week, it was absolutely packed with linen and etc . After going through everything there were 3 black bin bags of towels, sheets, duvet covers etc for Oxfam. When I put back the linen I wanted, the airing cupboard was full again! What is the science behind this? On a slightly different subject; some years back, after many duvet struggles at night I replaced our double duvet with a king-size one. Less fighting, also it looks better on the bed. I have since up-sized with all the beds, including a double on the single.

Goodness knows how many bedding sets I have bought over the years, often very expensive ones too. The two double beds each have four drawers bursting with bedding for that bed and the single is the same, with two drawers full. The airing cupboard is full as are two huge chests of drawers, with more bedding and towels.

I get so bored with what I have and am forever changing the décor anyway so have to have something that goes well with the walls, curtains etc. I am always pleased to pass things on to my grown up son or daughter as that way, should I be fond of the items, I get to see them when I visit.

My friends' sons and daughters also have been known to benefit.

I put it all down to the fact that we didn't have that much when I was young and nothing was ever new or co-ordinated. My excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Oh dear... Where do you all find the time to look after all that bedding. I have a lot of white bath sheets and towels - I always buy Egyptian cotton and they last forever. There are other colours in the other bathrooms so no muddling up. I sold a huge pile of duvet covers and sheets (including unopened sets) at a knock down price at a car boot sale (they sold out really quickly) when I realised that I really only used my favourite cream cotton sets of duvet covers and pillowcases. I have spare bedding for the other bedrooms - but find I can manage with two sets for these. It was lovely not to have piles of bedding taking up space.

It has to be white/cream bedding for me no bright colours or patterns as the bedroom is too small even though our bed is kingsized,I have 7/8 valanced sheets I had to buy the deeper mattress size sheets when we bought a new bed as the standard sheets wouldn't stay on the bed,that was an extra expense which I hadn't thought of when changing from a double bed and standard depth mattress.

My house is tiny and there's not much storage space. I do rotate towels and bed linen by putting clean stuff at the top of the pile and pulling out stuff to be used from the bottom. I also use a pillowcase from the clean duvet set to store the set in, saves having to look through a toppling pile.
However, I never, iron any of it!

I keep bed linen in a cupboard in each bedroom as beds are all different sizes. I use a 4.5 tog duvet all year round as I keep the house at a constant 22 degrees.
I have a cupboard either side of the shower which take all the towels. I do not have an airing cupboard as I do not have a tank.

I'm no Anthea Turrner, although I did adopt her towel folding method haha!

Jings, I just write on the white (branantia) bin bags with a thick marker pen. I am naturally quite a messy person who is always trying to be more organised. It's an on going thing with me, but I never quite get there???

My posting is leaving much to be desired. I need my bed.

wot! You label* spare duvets?! You mean you don't necessarily ^have to do the unfolding and checking the tog value every time, thing? [shock} Who'd have thought it.

OMG! Has no one got an airing cupboard like my mine? A topsy turvy chuck-it-in-when-it's-dry mess? No chance of rotating anything. I can't get the stuff at the bottom of the pile out!

There is nothing better in the Summertime than being able to put a sheet and duvet cover through the wash and on the washing line, and get them back on the bed the same day. Makes the job seem so much easier. Same with towels.

I remember Maggie Thatcher saying once, how she used to enjoy turning out the airing cupboard at Chequers. Wish I felt the same way about mine.

I am not an ideal housewife.
