I was driving down the A1 toda, a white van came down a slip road and pulled in behind a lorry but continued indicating right, I was in the outer lane and assumed he wanted to come out to get out from behind the lorry so I slowed down and hung back to let him out and waited. Nothing happened. I flashed him, waited again, nothing happened. Finally I speeded up and overtook him. My daughter, who was in the passenger seat looked at the driver as we went past and said. 'He is on his phone'. He had undertaken the whole manoeuvre, coming down the slip road and feeding onto a busy road, while making a phone call, phone in one hand, the other on the wheel. However he failed to notice his indicator was still on or notice me flash him. He was completely blind to everything happening round him.

DD was seriously injured in an accident 5 years ago and has a permanent disability as the result of a car coming down a slip road, not seeing a car in the inside lane and causing a series of emergency lane changes by other drivers that led to DD's injuries. We do not know whether that driver was on the phone. They were not involved in the accidents following their driving error so drove on, unidentified, but it is a possibility.

Will these stupid drivers ever learn before they kill or maim someone?

It's a bit worrying that Trump has had to tell Americans that they shouldn't be frightened of him.
There have been lots of presidents in my lifetime, five of them are still alive, and not one has had to say anything like that before. He lives on threats, has done so in his businesses, and is obviously going to continue to do so.

I don't think it was lost in translation at all - I mean I didn't write it in French did I ;) my point was clear - it is a very real problem, which is not just about foreign drivers - but mis-represented and distorted by the polulist Press to keep on their campaign of 'hate' towards foreigners- which became a real component of the Brexit vote.

It was highjacked and distorted and misconstrued, in about 280 posts - what a shame.

I think the message got lost in translation because it was obscured by the title and the rest of the OP and subsequent posts.
