I tend to liquify the last bit of these products by microwaving both glass and plastic bottles (supported in a Pyrex bowl) in the microwave for 15 second or so on full power. It always does the trick for me.

callgirl1 I have one of these - it helps to twist open jars and bottle tops and has a firm grip and lots of different sizes. Would not be without it.

I like squeezy bottles - you can always remove the whole top and scrape out with a knife when you get to the last bit.

I jam bleach bottles in the door frame. Works a treat!

There's a great wee tool called a Jar Key, callgirl1. Got mine from Betterware, I think. You use it something like a bottle opener and it releases the vacuum in the jar/lid.

I agree about squeezy sauce bottles; they are better than glass ones, but I have stopped buying other things, like honey, in squeezy bottles. I also wish they would make a straight sided Marmight jar, to make it easier to get out all the contents, but it is iconic so that won't happen.

Squeezy bottles can be annoying insofar as it's hard to get at the remnants. When a container allows it, I tend to turn it upside down balance it on top of a nearly full replacement and let the last vestiges drain into that, works well with ketchup and liquid clothes washing solution, but depends on the opening really. Not sure whether I've tried it with honey but do usually buy it in the smaller squeezy containers rather than a jar.

My husband thinks I have a problem with my thumb because I keep it so firmly pressed on his head !

I can't stand the packs of cooked meat. They have a little corner that you are supposed to pull to open. The little corner piece, if I can grasp it, nearly always pulls off and I have to get a knife out to open it. I also dislike the squeezy mayonnaise and ketchup.

Seacliff I won't use marmite in squeezes either and have you noticed how much gets left behind I ve got a honey squeezy had it upside down as needed went to use it yesterday and it didn't want to come out ( my house is cold) I was trying to squeeze it out but the sides all went in on themselves and seemed pretty solid eventually it dribbled out I hate it
I usually end up cutting them in the end as so much gets left behind
I avoid when possible but sometimes there isn't a substitute

Nellie the paragraph you quoted is definitely me. I wasn't aware of that.
I find the best solution to stubborn jar lids is to pierce them with a sharp knife to release pressure, they then open fairly easily.
I don't like the squeeze and twist tops either but my pet hate is the "tear along dotted line" if only it were that easy !!

Marmite does not work in squeezeable bottle, not just me, son too was moaning too. I accepted substitution on supermarket order, never again. Glass in future, and recyclable.

callgirl have you tried using a kitchen glove for grip? Either just put over the lid or put the glove on. It works for me!
