I'm sitting here, sweating. Not even doing anything, just melting like an ice lolly. I haven't got the energy to do anything. Roll on the end of the week and sensible weather.

LilyLilo I can do all of those things if the temperature was a few degrees lower. Tomorrow is forecast to be the hottest day since 1976. I love a hot summer, but that's different from a heatwave which can kill.

Lucky me, the temperature has dropped to 27 degrees. hmm

Onneker i agree . Although I quite enjoy a hot day when Im not busy and can sit in the shade, I worry endlessly about global warming which few people seem to take seriously ( including Trump, disastrously.) What will life be like for our granchildren in the future? Its horrifying, yet hardly anything is done. Its all too little & too late. We've now passed the point of no return i read recently - even if we stopped all use of fossil fuels in the world today temps will continue to rise. If we keep on burning them temps will rise much faster.

Worried that by the time I've got used to the hot weather it will be gone! OK I'm in the wrong city with the wrong clothes. I'm wearing my only skirt and tee shirts all abandoned in a drawer at least a year ago, luckily not taken to a charity shop! Flat comfy sandals also seeing the light of day again.
I'm loving having healthy light meals in the garden and being warm and mostly free of aches and pains. Home tomorrow where I have long loose dresses, I bet it rains!
I admit walking down the sunny side of Oxford Street was a bit of an endurance test but so what, I did it.
The early mornings and evenings are wonderful, aren't they? Wishing I lived near the coast!

It's great to sit outside and enjoy a glass of chilled rose in the evening.

Although weekend was a bit tropical, cold food, fans on etc, we know it will only last a few days! Today is cool! Been overcast until now and the sun has appeared. Stiff breeze from the sea, about 20 miles away!
just seen forecast and it's back to normal temperatures, rain and storms at the end of the week And we will all be complaining!! It's never right for everyone! I love the warm weather, ???????☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

in North Devon at the moment and spent time on the beach and went swimming in waves, body surfing the waves and having a lovely time. Just love it.

Alright for some! grin
Am still way too hot but off now to watch some tv in a effort to feel sleepy.....hope there will be a thunderstorm tomorrow.⚡️??

Saggi Wed 21-Jun-17 06:38:10

Does anyone else have a problem with their throat in this weather.... mine feels like it's swelling up and feels constricted when I walk!? .... or is that just me?.... or am I starting a cold..... or maybe I've gotten a bug picked up while swimming Sunday last!? Or am I just imagining it??!! Confused

gillybob Wed 21-Jun-17 06:54:23

Thunder bolt and lightning very very frightening.....

I've never seen or heard anything like it for a long time. The rain is coming down in sheets, the thunder is booming and the lightening is whipping across the North Sea like nobodies business.and at 06.50 it's still quite dark.

You got your wish roses.

gillybob Wed 21-Jun-17 06:55:47

Yes Saggi I have a really sore throat too and have had a funny (well it's not a laughing matter) headache for the last couple of days too.

suzied Wed 21-Jun-17 07:14:06

Air quality is bad at the moment

harrigran Wed 21-Jun-17 07:23:37

I have sore throat, put it down to hay fever perhaps.
Storm woke me gilly, long time since we had one like this and reminds me of childhood school holidays.

I sympathise with anyone in a large city in sweltering temperatures. I used to live in west London and as a result of the heavy pollution in the air, it was like trying to breathe soup on hot days. However, right now it is winter where I am and I awoke this morning to a heavy frost and a mist that concealed the houses across the street. I am so looking forward to our hot summers.

gillybob Wed 21-Jun-17 07:28:53

Me too harri'I was always terrified of thunder and lightening when I was a child. Not exactly over fond of it now considering I have to leave the house for work in about half and hour and no sign of dying down. Did anyone else count the seconds between the the bang and the flash and work out how close it was? Well this one is too damned close for my liking. grin

TerriBull Wed 21-Jun-17 08:10:14

It's going to be the hottest day of all today and then it's going to break tonight with storms and cooler tomorrow. In my younger years I loved hot weather, but I've found these last few days truly draining and just feel lethargic. I feel sorry for all the people we know working in London, it's so hellish on the tube in extreme heat. Going to Denmark next week where from long range weather forcasts it's not expected to get any hotter than 23 degrees. Never thought I would want to go away to a colder climate in summer.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 21-Jun-17 08:22:06

So you've got the storms already gilly. Sun out here in the Midlands and quite cool for now. It was lovely sitting in the garden at about 8 o'clock last night, so it's definitely on the change. We're forecast heavy rain later, but not thunder and lightning. If you do get it, expect hail too. Now that's a recent thing for me and a sign our weather is changing. I remember a forecaster saying we'll see more extreme weather in the UK as a result of the world wide changing weather patterns.

MawBroon Wed 21-Jun-17 08:22:42

Storms haven't got this far south but we may get them by tonight. Desperate for water in the garden (having restricted myself to watering only the pots ) and being without a dog for the first time in 38 years I can face the prospect of thunder and lightning with equanimity.
However, my heart goes out to all other pet owners and their animals ❤️

DanniRae Wed 21-Jun-17 08:25:55

I am in London and we have had no thunder and lightening - where is it, please?
My little dog hates it and I don't want to go out and leave her if it is coming my way!!

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 21-Jun-17 08:39:13

From BBC

Much of England and Wales will be hot and humid again. Southern parts will have widespread sunshine but there will be more cloud further north. Heavy thundery showers are likely in the north of England, Northern Ireland and in Scotland. Weather warnings have been issued.

Haha someone called me grumpy for loving hot sunny blue sky days that's ripe listen to yourselves
I ve got absolutely no problem with people who find the heat difficult but for crying out loud it's about one week in 12 months and you're going on as if you live in a tropical country You will all have your rain, your gloom, your grey miserable cold within a heartbeat let's just enjoy the sun shining on us for a tiny fraction of the summer
Get your fans out, loosen your knickers, sit in a room with the curtains drawn, sit under a tree, get in the shower, get into your air conditioned work places, dream about the snow and rain and wind but let's have one good week and enjoy it

??

MawBroon Wed 21-Jun-17 09:09:25

Quite honestly blue belle you only have to skim through GN especially the AIBU threads (and anything to do with DILs) to see to what extent some people like to feature as prophets of doom and gloom.

I fear it's an age thing
We're all doomed!! grin

Nannylovesshopping Wed 21-Jun-17 09:13:24

With you every inch of the way, love love love this heat, knickerless, braless, p....d as a f..t on gin and sangria in the garden, feel as if I'm on holiday, what's not to love!!!! will no doubt be overcast and cold for the rest of the summer!!

annodomini Wed 21-Jun-17 09:20:26

Storms are forecast for Cheshire but so far it's hot and very still. There's high, 'milky' cloud but the sun's rays are getting through. I will douse myself in sunscreen and try to finish a few little jobs in the garden before the weather breaks.
