To want a tattoo

Their attitude would make me go out and do it. Yes I have tattoos. 17 as it stands. All pretty delicate ones.

Varying from roses, autumn leaves, butterflies, birds, Christian tattoo, daisy chain, my children, husband and grandchildren names, a dolphin, an angel praying over a baby in her cot, a dedication to my late mom, Japanese flower, my football club and the Greek flag tattoo. My next one will be a lion in colour wearing sunglasses.

It's your body, no one else business. Your big enough to make your own decisions so do it. My 2 middle youngsters both wanted tattoos for their 18 birthday. Yup I paid for them.

It is really nothing to do with them, is it? I have three tattoo's all done in my 50's, one on the inside of my wrist, one on my ankle and one on my hip and I've never regretted it.

I hate them. DS has one on his tummy (which is now a bit bigger (the tummy!) than when he got it done). But we rarely see it so I mostly forget about it. DD talks about a small one occasionally but knows my views and it may be to wind me up, I think she will eventually. But my advice to you is - think about it carefully and then just do it! If it's what you want and makes you happy then it's nobody else's business. They seem to be addictive though!

Saw Sheridan Smith on the TV last night and thought that her tattoos were so ugly, they were not discreet or particularly well done and just made her look like a chav.
This is a good actress with a nice singing voice but DH and I felt it was a shame that she saw the need to deface herself.

Try having one of the one's you can wash off to see how you feel with it. I think it's a transfer.
Then you can make a more considered decision.
How would you feel about wearing the same bracelet or broach every day?

I'm assuming it's not rude or offensive, so go for it! At 63 you can do what you want.

And a tramp stamp refers to the tattoo you see that goes across the whole of the lower back! My ex-SiL had one, nuff said!

If you want to have a tattoo then by all means have one. Just one question, 'WHY'?

My friend who is in her 70s lost her son in a climbing accident. In his memory she has a beautifully delicate tattoo on her inner wrist/forearm. It is a heron sitting on a branch of almond blossom in a pale aqua colour.
It's beautiful.

I am going to try a temporary one for a bit just to make sure it's what I want.

My daughter has asked me not to have it done until after her wedding next year so I have a while to think about it.

I had a delicate flowery tat on my foot, symbolising my DC and DGSs for my 61st birthday, courtesy of my indulgent DD! Nine years on and I’d like to build on it to include my new GDD. I have my family with me every time I look at my foot no matter where I am ?

Oh my, I was chatting to my grown up children at the weekend, I've decided I want a wee tattoo on the inside of my wrist.

I never know why people do it. We can all look back to old photos and dreadful hair styles clothes etc but at least we were not stuck with them for life!
I suppose that if you get one at our age you have less years to regret it! You just need to put it somewhere that won't get too wrinkly!

I seriously think I have some kind of 'phobia' where tats are concerned. I have never seen one I like yet - no matter what it is! I don't understand why gorgeous young women with gorgeous skin, spoil a beautiful elegant dress showing big bluey tattoos on arms, chest, back. I want to lick my hanky and rub it off ha ha......

I don't know many people WITHOUT them t.b.h. and I know I am in the minority with disliking them so much but I would say if its what you want........go for it!

Go for it! Visit a few parlours and get a look at their work.
Do you know what design you want? Remember, your body, your decision and tough if anyone doesn't like it, you don't need anyone's approval but your own!

Love them or hate them - to have a tattoo is a personal choice, but do choose a good practitioner. Your daughters? Well, why have you even asked them??

Have had a discussion with DD about tattoo inks, she is an expert on paint and ink and oversees worldwide health and safety aspects of them. Tattoo inks are not covered by any regulations and are imported from countries outside the EU, the only requirement is that a tattooist follows basic hygiene. At worst some of these inks can be carcinogenic but even a small amount of ink can cause skin sensitivities.
